The problem with those is that the LEDs are not in the same position relative to the base as the filament in a halogen bulb.

Guys remember to reinforce the bulbs how /u/Billfitz said. I was driving and one bulb slid out of the reflector bc of the weight.

I have a 2017 X3 with halogens and looking to upgrade the lighting. This process and bulbs should work similarly, right? By that I mean, it shouldn’t be much more different in terms of coding/bulbs and performance.

You should find a thread in the X3 forum where someone has already done it, especially where the coding is concerned. I know that F25 and F30 coding parameters are not the same.

No wonder why those are throwing a weird beam pattern, if you get different leds, I'm sure it'd work better.

How to code out the headlight errors/malfunctions with LEDs

Im very impressed with them, mostly because they do not scatter light. They dont produce glare to other drivers, as they were engineered to replicate the location of the filament of a halogen bulb. The light is focused toward the ground and actually have a cut off. Paired with led DRLs, led parking lights, and led front turn signals, and i love my setup.

I did have to code the low beams because they flickered.
I have a 2013 BMW X3 (F25) and installed LED headlights. After installation, I got malfunction errors and flashing/turn off on the headlights.
I purchased a Carly Adapter II and got the Pro app to code.
After trying to turn off the headlight voltage checks (1/2 and 2/2) for right and left, I still get the flashing and malfunction. It apparently didn't work.
What did you do to eliminate the errors/flickering?

Did your bulbs come with LED driver ballasts? Mine did, and they never threw an error. I still had to code out the warm and cold checks so that they wouldn't blink every minute or so.

I got these and they work/look great.

A good tip, when installing, take the ring off (just a quarter turn of the bulb) of the bulb and install separately then after you get the metal tabs in place nice and secure, install the bulb into the ring.

If you search YouTube there is a video of a guy running one of these in a bowl of water to show how water resistant they are.

If your headlamps are not installed yet you may not need to install the ring separately since you'll have a better angle with the headlamps on a table than in the vehicle, working from the wheel well.

"VK-5S H7 8000LM LED
Link to the LED bulbs :https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1"

Wow. These look exactly like the Supernova V.3 bulbs I want to put in now, right down to the label on the ballast!
Do they have a removable collar & are they clockable (twist to align LEDs properly)?

Murf

Almost every LED is packaged and sold by multiple sources. If it seems there are lots of choices on EBay or Amazon it pales in comparison to those on AliExpress.
