Hi all,

Life story - I had my last BMW 1 series on lease, but yesterday officially ended that and bought myself a 320D, feels good!

Some of the little intricacies I had no idea about, I love the handle lighting and the touchpad iDrive wheel.

Can someone please tell me what this in the attached? I think it's a port for a phone dock after some googling, but there's no dock included, so the last guy must have half inched it!

Is it worth getting the attachment separately? Should I look up a tutorial to replace it with the standard tray instead?

Thanks in advance,
Josh

Thanks mate.

Is this the snap in adapter I need?

https://shop.bmw.co.uk/bmw-uk-respon...ediauniversal/

What is the actual benefit of the adapter? I have a phone mount attached to one of the heating grills with USB connection already.

Thanks,
Josh

There is no benefit. Today's supersized phones do not fit.

Thanks guys,

I have taken the advice of SchweiZ4 and begun the first steps of his brilliant tutorial on how to swap out the adapter for the classic storage tray below: by buying the required parts / tools!

https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...5&postcount=31

Can't wait to get started

Thanks,
Josh

I did this mod a few years back following the same Link, found the tray really helpful

Converted the plug behind the armrest vent to a extra usb port with a cable routed to the the tray area, unsure why its not in that link.
it uses the docking cable.
