Sorry to hear - must be shocking to come home to that! Any cctv cameras?
Get Ghost installed and leave the keys in vicinity. That way they will hopefully leave your house quickly and abandon the car when they realise it can't start

CF-F30 so sorry to hear of the chaos you have been left with, I had a similar thing a couple of years ago, broke into my then Audi A1 and took basically anything they could carry out of the car, even took the car mats, i know how frustrating it is these thieving scrots think oh nice car, nice house, it's insured, they'll get over it but infact they leave you waking at the smallest noise, jumping at shadows and same as you wondering if its worth keeping the car in the first place. One thing i learned I WORKED HARD to get the car in the first place. Make your Car / Home / Family as safe as you can but if these poss tots want to get in they will. We added a security ring camera / floodlight and now we have a F30 parked on the drive. Don't let these ball bags win mate. rest knowing that this is how these mongrels work and they always will but they will get caught someday and serve the time they deserve.

Sorry to hear this, absolute scum about.
Only you can decide how to proceed and (hopefully) keep the car. Worrying this is often there are repeats. The Mrs will be shaken up. Can you increase security at your home and make it obvious with signage and cameras etc. Best of luck

Always a shame to hear about things like this.
Suggestion - can your house alarm incorporate wireless trembler detectors, or be upgraded for them ? I have them on all ground floor windows and doors, that way the alarm will sound as soon as a break-in attempt is made, hopefully the scrotes will scarper, I'll get a call from the monitoring company before anyone has even gained entry, and the police can be called immediately. Police response where I live is pretty good. My teenage daughter recently activated one of the panic buttons ("hmm, I wonder what this does') and the police were at the front door in a couple of minutes. They were very good about it being a false alarm, and we've made sure all of our children know only to use the panic buttons in an emergency.

Really sorry to hear this - especially as you'd done the right thing and already had an additional deterrent which you would normally think would be enough for them to move on... I guess the only other thing you could add as far as a visual deterrent is a post on the drive if that would practically work with your layout. Making things as awkward and slow as possible so they just don't consider it an option and walk on by seems preferable to adding things that a determined scum bag could come after you for... The other extreme is leave the keys on show so they can just take it with minimal intrusion into your life and rely on Insurance & GAP to sort you out... If all else fails get a new 4 series and park it nose out - that should keep everyone away... Does seem like you will need to do something in order to get you and yours beyond how you are feeling right now. Have the police been at all useful in the advice they will hopefully give you?

Absolute scum!
Can fully understand your wife's concerns. It must feel like your life has been defiled! Problem these days is it's gonna be some drug fuelled wanker, that doesn't give a toss because he's high! |

Sorry to hear OP, that's absolutely dreadful. How are you and the Mrs holding up?
Second that comment regarding the Autowatch Ghost. Fantastic bit of kit, I upgraded to Ghost 2 recently which offers even more protection.

Horrible feeling. We had our house broken into on the 4th of Jan this year. They took our 2017 e class. Had our 18 month old boys car seat and a few personal belongings.
We are well camera'd up, and have a monitored alarm. They do not care and we've since found out that our car was the 4th e class that week. All to order it would seem. I've since installed some driveway posts in the drive, and replaced the Merc with a 330d f31 for me and a 320d f30 for the wife. Diskloks all round, keep car keys desperate to others. Its a ball ache but I guess it has to be done. I hope you have seen the last of these scumbags. I've got a nice long breaker bar handy for the next time someone tries it. |

I imagine them ramsacking (just for Teaston ) the house searching for keys. I take both keys away with me, so they wouldn't find anything. I've now started leaving a note in the entrance hall telling them the keys aren't in the house just in case someone forces their way in. |

My sympathy to the OP, it's a horrible experience.
I sold my 440i recently after the last attempted break-in. It simply isn't worth the hassle and stress, IMO. The police, who were excellent, confirmed that BMWs are thief magnets and that they will stop at nothing these days to get the keys. All you can do is deter, so upgraded alarm system and CCTV now installed.

Yeah, because scum can read? And the ones that can read will stop and take heed of the note or other signs such as “CCTV in operation”, “monitored alarm system” or “no cash on premises overnight” I can just imagine it. They’ve smashed into your house, pick up the note and say, “whoa lads! There is a note saying no keys in the house. Back it up. Let’s leave everything neat and tidy and move on” Total mastermind. |

Sorry to hear this OP - never nice to hear. A guy at work has his done in Solihull the other night, 3am, snapped the lock and when they couldnt get in still they smashed the door down - didn't give two hoots how much noise it made.
They were after his wife's mobility 69 plate A class, weren't after his A6 saloon but as the keys were together in the hall (away from the door) they simply took both. Mobility replaced within 24hrs and he just took a pool car from work (his was a company car). He's now beefing up lighting as opposed to security as such, purely as he said, they don't care, they will just batter their way in anyway. We've changed all our locks to 3* and have a patlock on the back french doors - turns out we're quite secure as when the front door mechanism failed after 3 years it took the locksmith 90 minutes to get in the other day (very expensive lesson learned - if your door handle has movement on a multipoint lock replace it now - £40 instead of £250!) If anyone is looking at CCTV by the way - we recently added Eufycam 2's - got them super cheap (£310 for 3 cams and base) - local storage and very well designed - well they would be Eufy is the home tech brand by Anker |
