Retrofit heated seats into a non cold weather package car.

Hey yall.. I beat up the search-fu but didnt see this combination of retrofit.

I would love to put M4 front seats in my F32, as lots of folks have and the big thread on that.

What about heated F82 seats into a non heated sport seat setup?

So AC controls (dash) with the heated seat buttons for sure and the new seats of course.

The wiring harness though.. it would make sense to have the same wiring harness for heated and non, because in manufacturing, you would just have one setup. Logic often doesn't apply though..

I dug through the forum and searched but didnt see any attempts to retrofit heated seats.

Has anyone tried this?

It's likely to be more complicated than you think. There are all sorts of electronic modules involved with the seat system. I bet it can be done though. My Bentley manual has wiring diagrams. I'll see what I can find out.

Thank you.. reading through the massive seat swap thread (finally found it again) there are some hints about doing this, but no definitive answer.

Really appreciate you looking as I SUCK reading wiring diagrams that is for sure.

It looks like you'll need to wire from the HVAC control through the front and rear electronics modules (FEM and REM) and power to/from the plug on the floor under the seat. Might take some trial and error. I'm here to help if I can!

Hi there, I'm thinking of swapping heated seats in my BMW F31 2016 Sport (post LCI) to my current car BMW F31 2017 M Sport (non heated seats). I own both cars and can play around with them as long as i need. Would i get any issues with this swap? I will also move the radio unit across? Any suggestions if any coding is required? Anything i should be aware of? Great thanks in advance!

I gave up trying to put heated seats in my 2019 430i and just went and traded it in for 440i of the same year.
