m340i touring vs s4 pistonheads

Sums it up really. Fast clinical derv with nice interior Vs nicer to drive petrol that actually makes you want to go for a drive.

Would agree about the petrol making you want to go for a drive. As much as i love the 6cy Derv they just dont make you sing.

I (sort of!) went the other way - from 435D to 2018 S5 (3.0 petrol) and don't regret it for a minute.

Next car however will be the 440i (or whatever it's called). Audi seriously dropped the ball putting a diesel in the S5. Don't know a single member on A5OC who's getting the new S5 once it's time to change their current one.

And tbh, the interior is a nice place to be, but the new 3 series seems just as good to me.

It was a weird move by Audi and feels like one that was signed off about 7 years ago (probably was with car manufacturing and design cycles).

Seriously though, Diesel is only going to get taxed, marginalised and basically bullied by governments from here onwards.

Existing fleet, fine, but bribing out a new Diesel variant and in a model like that's associated with petrol is poor market gauging.
