Is the FPace S a 3.0d or the supercharged petrol lump...

That Sq5 looks like a mk1, in which case its a diesel if its a UK car as they only sold the diesel in the UK. Might have a V6T badge on wing but its a TDi too....

SQ5 petrol only in mk 2 (the current one)

Good spot!

It does have the V6T badge which throw me. It’s a “64” plate, so probably older!

That looks fab. Is it Carbon or Sapphire black?

Carbon Black. I've had Sapphire Black cars before and have found they show up dirt/watermarks more.

Such a great colour. Have it on my 430GC and had it on an E46 M3. It’s always been a BMW specialty, love the way it changes to a blue tinge in different lighting.

Have you had a chance to drive it hard along a decent road to compare it to your M235i?

I had a proper drive in a M135i at the weekend and was fairly impressed, so if this was anywhere close for driving fun I'd love to hear about it.

Great noise is a given!

Tell me about how it is to blast up a good road?

It’s great! The power just keeps going on and on and doesn’t feel likecyouvarecdriving a big car.

Have you seen Joe Achilles review of it?

Would you say it handles better than your F31 did? Which would be quicker if you had to get to Oban and didn't have to worry about your speed?!

Only seen the video of him with TRL looking round the car... is there a driving one now?

Hands down, I would prefer to drive the road in my M40i. And I know the roads well as I used to live in the area. With ACS springs on my F31, there would be slightly less body roll, but that’s all that would win.

M40i in sport with sport suspension is a weapon. The power is immense and would eat the miles up - especially if speeding wasn’t an issue. And if I just wanted to travel in a relaxing manner, still it in comfort and feels like a limo. No “crashing” that I got from F31.

You really need to test drive it to get a feel for it. It just seems to do everything well!!!!

PS - the link above is the driving footage.

Yes, I will sort out a test drive at some point this year. The Macan facelift will be announced soon I believe, so that will be getting looked at, and I'll probably try the RS4 too.

I’m not questioning the car by the way, I expect it is very impressive. I do wonder about the value of reviews which come from a cosy arrangement though.

Bingo!

He's about as believable as Diane Abacus adding up a lunch bill.
Got to agree with you gents.

When he appeared on babybmw and did his "5 things I hate about my m135i" and comparisons with his own M2 and M240i, he came across as very genuine with good honest reviews before he had any affiliations.

Fair play to him though, he built a decent platform that got him into bed with TRL but it does undermine his objectivity. Still, at least he's open about his tie-up with the dealer.

Off the line the M40i is quicker thanks to the 4WD and then it just pulls and pulls. You notice the weight.

My M235i felt faster at motorway speeds but that's probably down to seat position, wind/tyre noise and weight.

The B58 engine in the M40i has 34 more hp than the N55 in my M235i did.

Loving it so far and have no regrets at all. Can't fault it.
