Anyone signed up to Coinbase today? Seems the credit card deposits are goosed. Annoying as was hoping to get on Status today and it’s nearly doubled in value.

Anyone know why prices are so different on different platforms? For example, coin cap might show XRP at 2.50 but GateHub will show it at 1.88. Why such a big difference?

I think it may be due to the rate of change. It appears that when there is a rapid move, the exchanges cant keep up. Also, dependant on what currency you are viewing it in (£, $ or Euro) will have a discrepancy due to whatever exchange using whatever conversion rate or factor. I tend to look at a few exchanges to get a mean of the current price.

I’ve got a £50 punt via Coinbase on BTC - currently seeing £7 profit!

Don’t think I’ll be doing anything exciting just yet, but does show if you have the balls / capital to invest with big ££ then you could see some decent rewards as some posters on here have!

Is there a recognised easiest/simplest and/or best way to start playing with this stuff? Seems a myriad of different ways.

I personally found eToro incredibly simple. Downloaded the app to my phone, created an account, deposited money and started trading. Was probably up and running in half an hour.

I didn't even look into the copy side of things that's possible on it - just carried out my own trades. You could try it with a virtual portfolio first.

I really cant figure out why this happened as all cryptos were doing well at the time. I haven't contacted eToro about it as its virtual cash, but would of been gutted if it was real money. Anyone any idea what caused this?
Stop loss got triggered?

Can I ask how you verified your ID?

They use some stupid method of taking a photo with your phones camera of your drivers licence or passport and it won't accept it it keeps failing to verify, seems common after a quick look on google. Any other site lets you use a scanner and send them a good scanned copy but not coinbase

I had problems with the photo verification did it from my computer using an attach photo option and from the phone. Finally worked using the phone.

Yes, stop loss must have been triggered but I can't understand why as all the cryptos were doing well and the fund is spread across them all. No way had the fund value dropped by two thirds.

Etoro have suspended stop losses now, so should be no danger of this happening with real money. I had mine down to minimum anyway, after I had an xrp trade @0.31 closed at 65% profit by a trailing stop loss. My mistake and not a good one to make.

Asian markets have a similar pattern but we are asleep then. Basically, a bunch of people wake up, see large rises and choose to bank some of that by selling.

This is only based on three weeks of watching including a quiet holiday period, but just thought it worth mentioning.

Right on cue, European selling has wiped 15/20% of my profits out in the last half hour
hopefully they will jump back up again soon.

Currently holding 1100 xrp @ an average of $2.25. Fully expecting all the gains to be wiped out! When things dropped on the 22nd of last month, I panicked and sold, then they all went up and I missed the boat. I'd be a few extra 1000 up if I'd just left it alone.

This will happen for weeks as the traders milk the public

I've tried to counter it by selling and then buying lower, but I keep selling at the bottom! 3 times I've done this now and the bloody thing hasn't gone any lower than when I've sold it.

I'm currently up £1400 on an initial £1700 investment. I mean it's not a LOT, but do I risk for loads more?
