Brake squeal when coming to a complete stop…
Recently bought a 2018 340i X-Drive with 19,000m on it and it has been fantastic so far. One issue that I just ran into was the brake squeal described in the title.
When coming to a stop from around 20 or 15mph and applying pressure to the brakes, they make a slight, but noticable squealing noise. Other than that they are completely fine. I’m preI still have BMWs 50k/ 5 year new car warranty warranty til October 1st of this year and have the extended 5year / 100k warranty through Allstate that covers drivetrain, electronic, and brake issues etc. Anyone got any idea what’s happening? What should my course of action be? |

The issue is the brake pads typically come with no lube on the touch points to the calipers. My 2016 340 did that at 5000km right from new. If you pull the calipers off, clean off the dust and put the proper lubricant on the surfaces touching the calipers, the noise will go away.
I'm on 50,000km since I did the above, and it's been silent. |

Base brakes for B58 cars still have Brembos on the front.

Regardless, brake paste re-application should do it. If you’re likely around 48months, you might also want to also replace the expanding spring and guide pins. |
