I think that one will be too big.

Here is my guide to retro fitting lumbar support.

I used that one and it is an ideal size. You don't have to inflate it much to give a good level of support. Mine works perfect.

My guide is here;

Here's some pics of my install. Still needs a bit of modding i think as it's not quite there yet for me... I might resort to removing the physical lumbar support from inside the foam as i can still feel it although with this inflated it is definitely an improvement. I used some kitchen chopping mats as a backing on my inflatable cushion which i got from B&Q for about £1.99. Ideal backing..

To route the inflation bulb i removed it and then threaded the tube out of the underside of the seat and up the side to it's current location. Whole job including chopping down the backing and cable ties etc only took about 30 mins. Hope it helps. Cheers.

ps apologies if the pics are side on. i set them all to the correct rotation but for whatever reason they kept being flipped onto their side!

Thanks for the photos and the tip regarding B&Q chopping mats. I've already bought the inflatable bladder - just need to get round to installing it.

What's the method/knack for removing the seat back ?

If you look on my guide here there are some pics .

https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...lumbar+support

There are two pins at the bottom of the seat back. Pull the centre pin out of the retaining plugs and they should then pull out. Pull the bottom of the seat back out and then pull down as the top of the seat back has two hooks. (see pic).

Hope this helps.

Nice job. Looks similar to what I did.

I cut my inflation bulb off too, threaded the tubing through then just pushed the bulb back on.

I also used this one. It's been in there for over 3 years. Works great.

Hi, does it help now you have fitted it? Has it alleviated your back pain somewhat? I drove for 2 hours and then 2.5 hours back about 3 weeks ago and was in pain afterwards for a few days. On holiday in a mk7 Golf, back and neck was fine (it haD lumbar support)
Also do you need to declare to your insurer? And if I do this would i be best to wait until out of warrany (enD jun)

I've done mine without backing and not had any issues. The only problem one I can think of is that the air doesn't always stay so you have to reinflate manually. Also make sure you have two plastic clips (2x6mm) that hold the seat cover in to hand because you may break them when you remove them from the bottom of the seat cover and you put it at the right height that suits you one inflated 1/3 of the way it's rule of thumb.

Finally got round to installing the single cell lumbar support into my driver's seat. I used a flexible cutting mat (Amazon), cut to size, as a backing.

It makes a nice difference and has plenty of inflation capacity in reserve.

Fitted these today one on each front seat. Took no more than 30 minutes the pair. Very easy to do. Very good value mod with very good improvement to seat comfort.
Highly recommended.

easy

Thanks for the guide. Took me 5 mins prep & 5 mins to install.
I got the three element bladder and went to Argos for the flexible board.

It works for me, my back and shoulder pain is gone. Just need to refine the seating position over time.

Have any of you that have fitted these also got heated seats?

I'm tempted to do this on my wifes F30 as she suffers from lower back pain. However, I'm a little concerned that inserting the inflatable pad and the PVC covers could impair the heated seats.

Is it obvious where the lumbar pad goes?

Cheers in advance!

Yes, I have heated seats and they continue to work as normal.

It's pretty logical where to place the bladder - directly in front of the spring-located wire frame which forms the support in the back of the seat.

Releasing the springs on one side makes it much easier to insert the bladder. They are quite strong - needs a bit of force.

If you buy the OEM lumbar support, it pushes the seat forward the same as this pad, so no need to be concerned about the heater elements
