does anyone know how to add an audio file to the boot animation?

First post: been struggling (like some others) to install the Avin 10.25 Android 9 display for my CIC F30. Currently I get 'no signal' on the iDrive, no audio anywhere, and I can't eject my CD.

Today I disconnected the Avin unit and wiring harness, restoring the 'native' CIC display and wiring, and I just get a 'BMW' logo on the screen. Something is horked - it is all original wiring back in place.

Question: do I need to re-connect ALL the wires to make iDrive 'connect', e.g. the hazard lights and the temp control? I just have the head unit and the display connected right now

answer: it made no difference

I'm still trying to troubleshoot here .. wondering about the right combo of MCU and CIC vs NBT. My old/factory display says CIC right on the sticker, but it's a 6-pin LVDS connector and a MCU that references NBT in it (023042bGS-NBT-HW7-19074[B1280_170325]. What's the magic combo of MCU, NBT/CIC, and Avin display?

I had problems with mine too but Avin replaced the mainharness for me. Same problem with no signal no radio and I drive

No signal problem occur due to cables which are not fitting perfectly. I had this problem too and my seller said that I should unplug and plug in again, the quadlock has to fit right. At first it seems that it sits right but it doesn't. After that everything worked fine

Shrazy , thanks, this connection is what I'm most skeptical of. Can you elaborate on what it looked like when it was "right"? As you can see, mine is not flush, but it's as tight as i can get it with the collar lock on it. I'm considering taking it off altogether.

Attaching a photo of my original LVDS. Is it CIC or NBT? Will this Android display and iDrive even work with it (so far, no)?

Edit: AVIN support confirms this is NBT, despite my factory display saying 'CIC' on the sticker ...

This is nbt cable (purple) like mine so if you have cic you can not connect of course because this are two different cable types and of course if you do not put this cable into the head unit you will get no signal. Which car you have? Give me exactly model and producing time not the time the car was delivered.

Hello. I have a problem with sound, listening to the radio entering google maps, I do not have voice commands from the map. Switching to AUX voice commands from the map are, but there is no radio. I have a Harman Kardon sound amplifier, through which the sound goes through an optical cable, only from the amplifier to the speakers.
Maybe there is a problem here.

What do these android units show at start up? I want it to look OEM, where at start up all I get is BMW logo up, without an Android logo popping up. I’ve searched videos but can’t seem to find one. Please let me know, thank you all!!

it starts where you last left it.. so if on idrive, there is zero startup delay and shows the normal car info

If starting on the Android side, you can select a built in boot-screen logo to display (BMW, Audi, Mercedes) - when done, this is all you see on boot-up, until it lands in the menu.

I leave mine on the Android side 99% of the time (for CarPlay use), unless I was over on original BMW side and forgot to set it back for Android boot. On a side note (mine is a gen-2 unit), to force it to boot to Android, I have to have it run the default built-in Music app for 30 seconds at shut-down. Once set, don't need to do that every time, only if it got toggled back to booting to old BMW. This quirk may have gone away in newer units.

I am trying to update to the latest firmware and it will not recognize the zip file, I have tried renaming using format and update and neither work. Any other ways to install the firmware?

what firmware on what unit?

You need to make sure you have relocated and plugged the green fibre optic cable into the quadlock connector that goes into the back of the headunit. This will be your issue.

Here is the latest Android 8.1 firmware, it contains ID7.
Download it, rename it to px6.zip, upload it to the root of FAT32 formatted USB stick. Insert it to USB, reboot unit and wait patiently. Try both USB slots. If it fails, try FAT32 fotmated SD. If that doesn't help, rename px6.zip to px6_format.zip and repeat the procedure. (this will clear everything to factory default). If that doesn't help either, be glad the unit works at all and leave it that way.

This is unlikely to be a firmware issue, as you are interfacing with the BMW system directly, not the android side. I would suggest that you make sure the fibre cables are connected the correct way and in the correct place on the quadlock. The symptoms you have are directly attributed to a mis-connected fibre cable, which is why I was so quick to jump to this being the issue.
