Cutting is an option but the switch wont sit right, the proper lower cowl has the switch sat in a recess which makes it easy to find blind.

That's all I did for mine and it works perfectly
What should these values be if car does have lane departure but no paddles? TIA.

What are the ECUs you have to code when VO coding option 248? Only the FEM, or also the KOMBI?

I’m going to code it with esys when the parts arrive next week.

I think it’s HU, KOMBI, SZL and FEM that need VO coding once you’ve added 248 to the FA.

Don't know if you've coded it yet, but from what I understand from this thread you have to code FEMBODY, ICM and KOMBI https://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1146335 (post #11).

I installed the heated steering wheel as my first ever retrofit and I'm very happy with the result. Works like a charm, thanks to this thread.

There's a bit of a learning curve to using E-sys, but thanks to all the available documentation and videos online it's totally doable if you just put some time and effort into it.

Hardest part was removing the bottom part of the steering wheel column cover. In the end I managed to pull it of by hooking two trim tools behind the rear section of the cover and just pulling it really hard (I did it without removing my steering wheel). Assembling the covers again took 5 minutes.

Thanks again!

Still waiting on my parts to arrive…

Which ECUs did you need to code with esys?

Shame it's taking such a long time... Good thing it's not winter yet But I know the feeling of really wanting to do something but not being able to and just having to sit around and wait. Hope they arrive soon!

I coded FEM_BODY, ICM and KOMBI. Somebody mentioned those in another thread and someone else had already confirmed that it worked, so I just did the same. In hindsight, maybe coding KOMBI wasn't even necessary because it already showed 'steering wheel heating activated' when I pressed the button before I even did any coding (the wheel didn't actually heat, but at least the kombi showed the right message).

Good luck!

Only Kombi and FEM need to be coded.
