Turbo gets its own cooling pump (part no 4)
Regular coolant pump shown above is mechanical, not electrical like older engines

So what are the big differences here from the N55.
I like that is a mechanical pump, one less electronic thing to fail (as water pumps in general are known to fail on BMW)

It's interesting that BMW has gone to a mechanical, belt-driven turbo cooler at a time when drag on the engine is taken so seriously because of fuel economy standards.
