Knee support Center console

Hey everyone.

Does anyone know if the knee padding can be installed on the Center console of a F34?

The Center console I have is the one with the 12v plug and the layaway at the front - not the one pictured below with the lid.

I'm just looking for the knee pad support and wondering if anyone knows the part number?

Is that a genuine BMW part, or just an aftermarket offering?

I can see plenty of them on places like AliExpress that just stick on to the side, but I can't see an option for one in the BMW parts catalogue.

Here's a post on here about them from a satisfied customer.

It is a genuine bmw part and can be found on the f80's

But it seems it can't be found on a newer Center console and looking at realoem it's greyed out for the f34

But the knee padding on the F80 is an integral part of the console - you can't buy the knee pad seperately - so you'd have to change the whole F34 console to the F80 console...just to get the knee pad...assuming the console fits!

Fitted one to mine I was told all variants of the F3x were the same so it should fit. Its more to look at though as it doesn't really sit where my knee does unfortunately

Point taken … however the one you're linking is the old model with the lid at the top and no possibility of adding the wireless charger ..

They didn't come in the new style. The lci m4 kept the old style to retain the knee pad. I have how ever fitted the wireless charger to my older style one I just removed the lid and bottom plastic plate from rhe charger and it fit nicely

I wanted to do the same project as you awhile back. After posting on here, I received a lot of the same feed back that it would be a lot of work and typically your knee won't even reach it. I opted for the cheap stick on pads from Aliexpress. It may not look the cleanest, but honestly it works really well for long road trips.

The centre console trim is held in with like 8 screws, super easy to remove. The install takes 5 minutes if you're handy with a trim tool and some torx screwdrivers.

I installed one for my F32, as others have said though the pad requires you to have your knees almost touching the windscreen before they reach it lol.

Well I'm 6,5 feet so height is probably not my issue ..

But did you install the entire Center console piece or were you able to find just the support pad on its own?

I mean.. if you've got really low proportioned knees then maybe lol. Your knee needs to be level with the back of the steering wheel column to begin to touch it.

The support pad doesn't exist on it's own, only as an aftermarket piece will you find the pad by itself.

The actual OEM center console piece has a cutout in the plastic to accommodate the pad, it's also riveted onto the trim.

In the UK these sell for around £40-50 second hand.

But do they only exist on the f80's? And do you happen to know the part number it?

F80 F82.. they all use the same part.

I don't, but if you search "F82 centre console trim" I'm sure you'll find the correct listings and part numbers.

I have one on my pre LCI f31, got the f80 console for $200 and robbed the knee bolster console top and extended merino armrest off it and used them on my original console. No interference with the dash on LHD.

Is actually very comfy both around town and on long trips as I drive Italian style with knees high and seat bottom reclined so my knee is right there.
If you are LCI you’d effectively be backdating the console to pre LCI… which frankly is a better design than the sliding plastic doors over cup holders on the LCI.

I swapped my OEM F32 console trim for the M4 with the knee rest, even went so far as to have the knee rest reupholstered in Alcantara w/M Stitching

Only to find out that my knee doesn't hit it anyway

I'm 5'10 and like to set back with my arm extended when on steering wheel

As stated the knee rest is not available separately, plus the std console that does not have the knee rest is not molded correctly or have the necessary mounting points for one

Best avenue is to get the correct M4 console trim with rest already included either new, or used from forum or scrap yard
