Unhappy So much F30 hail damage in south Texas... McAllen!

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Well, began at 9 pm and my friends x3 had so much damage on the roof, hood, back, and left doors, really really bad, it had water in the intakes. Any way my new 2012 335 wasn't with me, my mom went to church and when she drove back... You guessed right!!!! Omg! I was told at BMW that my car needs a new engine which will be 23k plus labor pus other parts! Insurance will pay but, my question is... Will it be total and will geico pay off my car?? I have had such back luck with this new 3 series that I wouldn't recommend it... But does anyone one knows what are the probability of having it totaled? What about my friends x3? With all the body damanag?

Btw! BMW vehicles are completely destroyed!! All cars were heavily damage by hail and most got broken windows and got water damage... About 77 new vehicles...

Here are the pics, those are the cars at bmw, only my red one has water inside the engine....

omg!

a buddy of mine in college got his accrord for half off becuase of hail(new car), its like soneone hitting a golf ball all over the car

hopefully insurance takes care of it, but that sucks so bad

any pics? if you dont want to i can understand

About the totaled...i think the damages need to be at least 80% of what the car is worth for it to be totaled. At least thats what state farm said for my 335 about 4 years ago.

I had about 32K of damage and even then it was like pulling teeth to get it totaled but they did. I dont think in your case it would be totalled but i would push for it.

why a new engine??? due to hail ??

i can't understand how hail can destroy an F30 engine ??

if you have any picture, it would be helpful... especially for the insurance !!
can you post some here ?

i just can't believe ...

and why would you not recommend people to buy the 3 series ??

because of the hail ?? i am a bit at lost here...

Sorry about your bad luck!

Hail is a constant problem in Texas during the spring, and one of many reasons to garage your car. Better the roof of my house than my cars. We've had hailstorms down here that have destroyed the entire inventory at car dealers, some of whom have now provided covered parking for their entire lot.

Destroying an engine seems completely far-fetched, and I'm betting OP is exaggerating a little. Smashing the windshields and drenching the inside of the car, sure.

Sounds like the OP's car got a bunch of water in the air intake and hydrolocked the engine. OP, did your mom drive your car through a flash flood on the way back from church?

If the costs are already at 23k without including the body work I would say it might come out being close to totaled.

How are the electronics? And the interior leather?
