Pro maps update
Hi all,
So, it's now been 6 months+, does anyone have newer maps than that shown in in the attached image? I also note that there's a BT upgrade available online, anyone done that? I'm tempted, but also cautious as there's nothing really wrong with the existing system.

I run 2014 maps but that's for CIC not NBT. The phone software version for my car is UPD1006.

In the US it's common to see the map data uploaded online, you then contact 'a dude' who sells you an enabling key far cheaper than thru a dealer.
I haven't done detailed research for Oz yet, but I'd be surprised if that wasn't the case for our maps too.

I did the BT upgrade when it came out - made Spotify work more often than not but still the integration of non-iTunes music is fairly poor.
I have the same maps for a January 2014 build. Out near Newcastle the other day the nav was very lost on roads it presumed didn't exist and tried to take me home by a very slow route. I ended up using Google Maps to get home. |

Here's a pic of mine. Still prefer Google maps for better routing.

USD$50, I have bought. Will advise when the FSC is received and update completed. BMW, note: If you sold these for a reasonable amount even up to a couple of hundred bucks, I would buy from you instead.

Okay, all done. Just a hint, make sure the USB is totally empty (empty the recycle bin whilst it's still mounted). Took about 10 mins all up.
Highly recommend dracon@gmail.com if you want to go down this road yourself (pun intended).

Found this out the hard way but for those with build dates close to when the new maps are being introduced you may already have a FSC enabling code in the system.
For example my build was early November 2013. Maps for 2014 was yet to be released. I bought both map and fsc code in February/march 2014 from a forum member. I uploaded the map and it worked without me punching in the FSC code. I was very puzzled. Another forum member (much respected on here but wishes to remain anonymous) advised me that my car already had the code and provided me evidence. The explanation is that these cars by the time it arrives at dealer would not have the latest maps despite being brand new car. Therefore bmw put in fsc code for new map for these cars. So before buying fsc code upload map first and check. It will only work though for cars with build dates close to new map release. |

yes 2014 maps are available I had mine updated 2 weeks ago. but can you explain more about Google maps for better routing, how do you get them to show in the nav screen or is it just on your phone? if only on the phone doesn't that negate what the nav screen in the BMW is for? cheers

And then they probably couldn't install it as it won't be ADR approved

I have the 2014 maps.
You will need the fsc codes but I also need to figure out how to make it a torrent. Also see my post earlier as those with build dates close to map release may not need fsc code. |

Bloody ridiculous price when in Europe now you can download the latest version for free. BMW AU should hang their heads (or wallets) in shame.

You may be able to download them for free, but you won't be able to install them without the FSC, which you need to buy. I'd probably pay up yo around $200, but I'm not going to get screwed to that extent.
