Great stuff, thanks.

What mpg did you get, overall, whilst you had it?

I think it was 40.1 on the display but I'm guessing.

You seem to have got far better mpg than me, by about 10mpg on each example, and also overall.

Trying out your tip on the heating system and it does seem to get the engine warmer quicker, but I think I will need to have a chat with the dealer.

One other thought...perhaps foolishly (and for reasons of pure vanity), I went for 19in wheels. Can't make 10mpg of difference surely, but did you have the 18s?

My tip isn't really for warming up the engine quicker. It's to stop the engine running as much. The AC will make the engine run all the time to make
it heat up so it can warm the cabin. If the cabin warmer is off it doesn't do this. Make sense?

EDIT - you are using Eco Pro mode right?

Yep, I got that was the main reason, but also assumed (wrongly), that by not taking heat from the engine, it would warm quicker - but that is daft. Thanks.

I am only Eco Pro most of the time, and just switch to sport when there is a chance to have some fun. I accept that mpg will drop if I open it up, but it's the town runs that are puzzling me. Can hardly believe that 7mile/17min cold start run you got at 39mpg. The only way I can get up to that figure is by tootling along a motorway (where I see you've had 50+) and I did something very similar to that country run last night and only got high 20s, as usual.

Yeah that sounds off. I could tell you I am a better Eco driver but tbh it should only make a small difference. High 20s is me driving like a loon.

Great thread! I'm such a bad AH3 owner. As soon as I get in it, it goes into to Sport mode and finding myself flooring the pedal at each green light. Just love hearing the Borla Atak roaring on this thing.
how do I get to ECO Pro again?

There are others out there then! Good to see some posts pop up.

Still struggling with mpg, but it is improving with (slightly) warmer weather.

Getting 35+ (UK mpg) on sedate 50 mile country runs , slightly better on sedate motorway runs, but still averaging 30-32, due to a small amount of town driving and the very occasional blast. That is probably 5-6mpg more than a 335i would get, at a pure guess.

The smoothness that the hybrid gives you in stop-start remains a massive bonus to me.

With lower petrol prices of late, I feeling very inclined to sod the mpg, and just drive it properly. When the decent weather properly returns, I think I may just do that.

I love my AH3, great mix of performance, style and gas saver, I do 80% city driving and I was getting 24-25MPG with stock tune, but I did a 4.5 hour drive to Santa Barbara last month and I got up to 100mph and 120mph a few times and I was getting 30mpg and on the way back home I got 33mpg but I didnt get up to 120mph as much, now a few days ago I installed a BMS Stage 1 tuner and I am just under a half tank right now and I am getting 28mpg so I am impressed with the results so far since I don't drive slow and most of my driving is city driving, hopefully next month I can control myself when I go to Las Vegas and drive slow and see what kind of mpg I can get, my only complaint from my AH3 is the tires suck, I have been playing with different rpm launches without traction control and the tires keep going up in smoke, might have to buy some sticky tires before I take it to the drag strip, also how many of AH3 were made in 2013 for the US? Seems to be a rare car for the US, I am looking to get another one, I have a Sport but I want to get a M-sport this time

Does anyone know the lifespan of the electric battery? Was told a replacement would cost around $15k!

Got 35.1 MPG on a 175 mile trip, speeds between 60-75.

Now with a mix of 70% highway 30% city driving its settled in at about 32.8, driving in ECO.

Thats better than by previous car, an 09 335xi, which maybe got around 29-30 highway and year round long term average of 23.5.

This has to be my favorite car I've ever owned to date, period. It just does everything. Cruise slow and efficient if you want, but knowing you have all the power you need at any moment.

This car doesnt make sense new, but around here used with ridiculously low miles are cheaper than comparable used 335's, making it a better deal, and its more interesting to drive.

Fantastic car.

I think it is too early to tell what the lifespan will be however the hybrid electrical system is covered by an awesome 8 year/80,000 mile warranty

Quick update from me.

Now that the weather is improving, the engine is loosening up (12,000miles) and I am paying more attention to tyre pressure, I am averaging about 34mpg (UK) overall, with high 30's/up to 40 on the motorway, at a steady speed.

My driving is about 50% country roads, 30% motorway and 20% in town.

I drive in Eco Pro most of the time, generally with a light foot, but of course I boot it now and again (and overtaking is an absolute dream).

A recent highlight was a trip to Wales, where I resolved not to look at mpg at all. The car performed brilliantly, laying waste to all before me, with 6 cylinders singing away in the mountains (I say this, even as a former 997 C2S owner).

So, overall, it is now giving me much better mpg than a 335i or similar would have given me and combined with the smoothness of take off etc, the performance, tech credentials etc, I am a happy man.

Just wish it was a bit louder (it's leased, so can't add on a new exhaust).

Actually, the HV battery and associated components have a 7 year/ 70K mile warranty on the AH3.

Hi Guys...Glad to be back on this forum after a 3-4 year hiatus. I just picked up my CPO AH3 fully loaded (Estoril Blue). Unfortunately after 12 hours of ownership the car is in service as they are trying to figure out why my engine/transmission light is on and why the Defrost/AC lights are blinking. Anyways cant wait to get the car back as this is def one of my fav cars owned.
