Connected drive

how do you get this to work on the f30 I see a couple of pictures and videos were you can see the weather news Google search etc. from connected drive but for some reason mine is not working it says something about bmw coming soon etc. am I doing something wrong do I have to do something or is this function still not working in the us or what is it ?

On the pic it says San Francisco ? So I'm guessing it does work here in the us

The car needs to be equipped with the technology Pack (USA spec) which includes BMW online and apps to get the functionality you want. This has to be selected at the time the car is specced, but the introduction of the store will allow owners to enable or renew these services themselves.

I know in South Africa they can't enable connectedrive features on a car that's on the lot but wasn't originally specced with it, although it has all the hardware already to make it work. So the store should change that and maybe bring more functionality and options.

Not true. Many cars here with only Nav and no tech package will have the BMW Online options.

I'm hoping they actually come out with new/good/useful Connected Apps. I know it could be considered "fluff", but I'd like to see an audio real time analyzer app that fills the iDrive screen. I don't need anymore social media interfaces or streaming apps.

Hi,

My 328i has Tech package. While I get the same screen for the BMW ConnectedDrive Store, I am able to have the iDrive display local weather when I click the iDrive on the BMW OnLine menu option, which also provides a submenu of other items.

Do you have a BMWAssist account? Mine was set up by dealer with me when car was delivered and it's free for 4 years. If you don't have a BMW Assist account, contact BMW either by:

Pulling down your emergency phone button (in the headliner next to the moonroof controls) or
Call (888) 333-6118

Believe that will allow you to enable what you are looking for. Am not sure when the BMW ConnectedDrive STore will "open", but would think it will be in the next few months

can you register online or something i made a account on bmw .com but i wasn't so sure how it works.

im not really to sure in what i have to do to make this work.

if i take it to a bmw dealer would they charge to make this function work or how does it work .

I believe that the on-line registration & set up is NOT available in US. Having said that, if you don't want to go to dealer, call (888) 333-6118.

I know when I got my car, I got 4 years of BMW assist free, but I have Tech package.

Again, call the 888 number and they can provide what else you may need to -- you'll probably have to provide them the last seven characters of your car's VIN

Thanks for the help dude I called and they helped me in all my needs I also changed owner on the road side assistance

Also for me to get bmw online I am going to get that extra charge 200 a year but I get bmw online and all the extra goodies the car comes with weather etc..
I'm going to get it and see what it does

Yes it's my car but I didn't know if I had that option on my car and earlier that I called I didn't have the option I have to pay 199 extra a year in order for them to add the bmw online service

Then you have it... standard feature of the Nav since MY2014.

I already stated the reason of why you are seeing that screen in your car.
