My DAW gets here tomorrow and hoping the install kit arrives shortly after since I'm on a very tight schedule. I have custom local dyno tuning booked in Dallas (2 hour drive and overnight) scheduled for Feb 11th. I'm looking for 530whp on TU pump. Tuner says he wants to try E30 but Shawn of DAW said E20 really woke the turbo up and I'm not trying to run into rail pressure issues. I'll gladly take slightly less hp if needed and upgrade my HPFP later. I'll keep you guys posted of the logs and dyno sheets here in 2 weeks.

Glad you made this response as I am looking for the same exact goals. Do not care about pushing numbers, only caring about rail pressure staying where it needs to be consistently.

Hopefully e30 is the maximum we can run without facing consistent rail pressure drops w/ TU HPFP

Yours already ordered? Shawn said the install kits ship soon. He gave me an ETA of sometime next week. The latest I need the kit by is Feb 8th to give my mechanic 2 days to do the install just in case.

Gonna be hard just having the turbo sit for a week and a half before install lol.

More ethanol doesn't mean the rail pressure will drop.

For sure. But as your videos say, there's a correlation between E content, HPFP limit, and power.

I'd rather start at E20 and tell my tuner to add some E85 in the tank (in small increments) then start at E30 and run into a potential rail pressure issue while trying to hit my power goal. I think the turbo can do 530whp easily either way based on dynos and since it flows similarly to Pure800. So I'm not super worried.

This turbo can for sure push over 600whp. Trevor posted a race between an e40 DAW Turbo custom tune vs e50 pure800 paul johnson tune and the daw turbo took the pure 800 driver. Obviously the conditions and variables of the race may be different but it goes to show that this turbo can put in the same amount of work if not more with the recent release of the V2.5.

This is the time when the boost is at least 33psi. And maybe more.

Can Vouch for Chris and Tony always responding to my emails, quickly, friendly, and always providing technical expertise to my specific build(N54). The GC lites 2.0 I purchased for my 09 335i in 2018 have been in my car for 20k miles without any problems. I’ve made probably 4 or 5 purchases from VTT in that time frame, and half the time I have to ask them technical questions like “uh, what spring comes with the turbosmart BOV and is it suitable for running gc+ @ 24psi?.” My biggest issues were getting together all the ancillary parts needed to get it running properly. New injectors, a overdrive unit for the hpfp, and a flex fuel kit to take advantage to all help push the envelope a bit. Guess who I purchased half of these products from knowing I could ask their opinions on which were best suited for my application? Why is that important? Well, Cos pushing double the factory hp isn’t something you can just make a one time payment on for a turbo kit and be on your merry way. Ya might run into some snags.

I can also say that the reason I went with VTT is because they didn’t require cores. I live in San Diego, 30 mins from Pure. Didn’t want the extra down time and they did not keep any kits in-stock, all purchased requires your cores at that time for my application. I would happily do business with either VTT or Pure, but would give the edge to VTT based on my personal experiences. As buyers, we can be pretty fickle and toss brand loyalty in the trash as soon as someone tops the other with a new “900” or “FU950” model. So take my talk of loyalty with a grain of salt lol, but VTT has my vote of confidence in terms of response times and technical support.

The TU pump is not enough for this turbine. Even at 98-100Ron. You then have to press her great moment from below. She goes to boost very early, with 2800rpm.

I'm going to disagree. It depends on what you want. If someone wanted 400whp, stock HPFP and DAW could achieve that. That's why you get a custom tune. It's tailored for your specific hardware setup, but thanks.

So this turbo comes out of nowhere, it's from China, is better or supposed to be just as good as Pure, and we are to expect this isn't some marketing tactic? No thanks.

To me this seems sketchy.

No details needed really, it's expected. Just look at the horrible customer service all the way from the N54 scene until today.

Why then put a hybrid turbo?)))
I will clarify - without a good pump and fuel, you will not be able to get the full power of a DAW.

do you have any proof it comes from china tho? all b58 turbos from them look machined within USA and many ppl are running these b58 flow maxes without much issue

It's VSR balanced here in the USA. The manifolds are welded here in the USA. They are assembled here in the USA. They are machined here in the USA. Yes the housing comes from China. Otherwise turbos would cost $6,000.

And the turbo itself isn't "cheap" at around $2500 starting. With all the options plus shipping it's around $2,900. IMO, you get what you pay for. And this is one of the more expensive hybrids on the market.

It's tough to judge turbo reliability so soon, you need years of use and thousands of customers. But so far it looks good.

In my opinion, they make good turbos, my only complaint is about their warranty.

One of my customers returned their Valvetronic exhaust, he was told by DAW the warranty would be voided if he uses it with their kit
