How Bored of your F30 Are you now?
When I First got my 335 F30 on July 26th 2012, it was heavenly. I thought this car would be it for many years to come.
Now, about 16 months later, I am pretty bored of my car. I just want to know if this is normal or do I have a really bad car bug? I'm thinking of getting a more exotic car less seen on the roads. In my area, there are more f30 320i's than honda civics. Just doesn't feel exclusive anymore! Thoughts?

My F30 is very competent.
But I find my passion for it is lacking. I think that is just the case with a car that is my DD. I have THOUGHT about trading it for an '11 E90 M3 6mt, but I know then I will have passion for my DD, but also be annoyed by the gas mileage, the dated interior-so I digress. I am holding off and seeing what the F80 M3 brings to the table. I found out my payoff is $35k. I have 11k miles. I could easily sell my 19's for $2k and come out of the car with a bit of positive equity for the downpayment on something else.

If you got that car itch, it probably means you got too much money. Amirite? If you can afford it, try something else. Not sure how exclusive you want to go, but there is plenty of fruit out there. |

I think the ultimate in exclusivity would be the Youabian Puma...now that thing will turn heads (for all the wrong reasons). OP, you should get some new wheels or M exterior pieces to keep it fresh

I hear that a lot, but I just disagree. Hope you don't mind. :] My daily driver is a 6MT GTI, and Sunday evening when the time comes to stash away M3 in the garage and pull the GTI out for the Monday morning commute ... it's such an exciting feeling. I love that car and can honestly say that I look forward to my 40 mile a day commute because of it. Moral of my post: get a GTI. Actually, wait for a few more months when the next one comes out (MK7) and then ... get a GTI. |

Not bored after 13 months of driving a 335i. It's a fun car as a DD, or for taking trips etc.
Maybe the fact that I loaded up that pig with everything but active cruise and the self parking BS.

I just don't have passion for FWD driving dynamics either. The new MK7 GTI is supposed to be great though.

You guys all make awesome points Lol! I love my car but have kind of lost the passion after 18 months and 35,000 miles. Whenever this happens, I drive it only in sport manual for a while and have fun. I'm usually constantly changing driving modes. Sometimes to have fun and sometimes to see how much gas mileage I can get.
I'm so embarrassed to say that this is my 5th car in 5 years. 3 BMWs, 1 VW jetta TDI sportwagen a damn Acura TL that I got traded the TDI in for (BIG MISTAKE). The TDI was a great car. TL was actually a beast but way overpriced and kind of unrefined for the price. I listed for the F30 when it came out and here I am now lusting after a 2 series or 4 series Estoril Blue Msport. I'm longing for a coupe this time. I can control myself more now that I know my tendencies and that I will get bored with anything after 30,000 miles. |

Have you thought about modding your car a bit?
Few mods can definitely change that thought. I know you already done first stage tune and exhaust, but I was referring to aesthetics wise. |

i don't really care what others are driving especially in my neighbourhood...
I like my 328i and I think it is a fantastic car...I think I will be keeping it for some years...my issue with my vehicles is that I start having a problem with it when there's a new generation out of the same car that I'm driving...then I can't drive it anymore and want the newer version...I think it is a disease or illness in a way!!! |

Same here. 3 BMWs Audi S5 and Audi tt. My neighbors think I sell dope and my coworkers think I have a sugar mama. My wife thinks I'm nuts.
I usually get bored after 6 months. I'm 7 months into the lease and I don't think I'll pass the 2 year mark.

I almost got CC R-line but ended up with f30. CC is a sharp looking car.

That's why I like 24 month leases. You don't have that much time to get bored with cars and in those 24 months you slowly add mods that keep you interested. I have had my car for only a few months and have can't stop moding. Everytime I get a new one though I get excited.

I love my F30 335i and I'm keeping it for 7 years (which is why I bought the extended warranty). I plan on replacing the runflats with non-runflats when they wear out, and I might consider some aftermarket wheels as well.
For those of you considering buying something like a Mustang GT, rent one for a few days before plunking down your cash. I had one for a rental car a few weeks ago on a 4-day trip and it was absolutely dismal, although it was the V6 model. The fit and finish were horrible and the doors "clank" when you close them. The GT may be more refined, but that's not saying much. It was noisy as hell too - like there was nearly no sound insulation at all.

I kind of get the boredom thing - I always get bored of my cars within the first year!
That said, I just love the fluid RWD handling of the F30. Even with a 318d engine it is just so good to drive. I am considering my next car, but to be honest at this point I'd just swap it for another F30; there isn't much I can think of that would better it at a reasonable pricepoint. Well, maybe an F31 (so it can replace the wife's Nissan Qashqai as the family car), and maybe with a few more toys this time.
