Right, about to buy an Android unit for my F31. Can't decide on Eonon, Avin, unit from KYCS or risk an aliexpress job.
Gearing towards one from KYCS due to having a UK contact and backup.
Anyone any experience or advice?

UK seller, 14 day return policy, PayPal buyer protection, plug and play with no coding required. Gives me more peace of mind than ordering off a foreign site.

I keep looking at these the one on ebay looks like it may be a little low on spec for the future with only 2GB/32GB especially when for £50 less you can get a Octacore 4GB/64GB version from ailexpress. If anyone in the Northwest has one and happy to demo it I'd love to see one in action.

Would you not get hit with import duty and admin fees ordering from Aliexpress?

I suppose, if you use a credit card to pay, you'll have S75 protection if it all goes wrong.

You won't get S75 protection even if you use credit card via PayPal, you'll get PayPal buyer protection though.

I've not had feeds to pay for 95% of the purchases I've made from China. Only when they're shipped through DHL many of the sellers will try and avoid additional fees. I say you're cutting out the middle man so if you have to pay extra I've made savings on the whole. Also with Aliexpress the seller only gets paid when you say you've received the goods so if they go missing, which I've had a few none arrivals then you can get them reshipped.

This seller for eg say's they'll pay any tax if you use their method of shipment rather than DHL which is an extra $10 but works out at £353 delivered if you pay in $ using a CC like a Halifax clarity card (the exchange rate is better than Aliexpress charge). No idea if the unit is any good though.

Never come across the option where you could choose not to pay the duty/VAT - the duty/VAT doesn't often bother me, it's the admin fee that companies like DHL/Parcelforce/UPS charge that are frustrating.

I have in the past successfully argued that the admin fee should be waived - as long as the seller hasn't explicitly stated that fees are payable by the buyer, then I would not be party to the contract for the delivery service and thus no liability would arise. You'd still have to pay the duty/VAT.

So far so good. Unit is great quality and exactly the same as my friends Avin one, probably made in the same factory. Quick to start up and screen clarity is excellent. HD movies on YouTube etc. Loaded a pile of stuff on from the play store. Normal idrive is retained and you just flick between the two.

The eBay seller was also 100%, I had a few questions after installation and I message him through eBay. He called me and was very helpful and said don't hesitate to contact him directly if I needed any further help.

One regret, I should have spent the extra and bought the one with the forward facing dash camera.

You can get them with camera built in yes.
