Anyone use dual monitor mounts?
It's looking like working from home is going to become a more permanent thing from what I'm being told internally. I live in a flat, so space is at a premium.
I have a desk with 2 x Lenovo 24" monitors connected to my laptop dock, all provided by work. The bases of the monitors take up so much space on my desk though. I was thinking of a dual wall mount, something along those lines. Anyone got one and can recommend or advise me to avoid? |

I don't have a dual mount but I do use two monitors mounted separately on the wall. I like them being separate. It means I can have the consultancy laptop and monitor off to the side if I'm splitting my time on a day, keeping the client setup directly in front of me, or have both of them right in front of me if it's a total client day. They each use two thunderbolts to mount them which means it would be easy to remove them and fill the holes in a rented flat.

I don’t use them at home but in the office our desks had desk mount arms. Not this brand but this kind of thing:

Now looking at this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Duronic-DM3...s%2C136&sr=1-8, but not sure if this is defeating the whole space saving objective that much. Might just try it for £40... |

I got mine on Amazon 18 months ago and they're pretty solid. Unfortunately it seems that one isn't available any more. That said if I were doing it again, I'd probably go for something that's got a bit more potential swing. These ones only allow about 14" stretch. It's okay but it doesn't allow you to really move the monitor edge much beyond the centreline of the bracket mounting. That may be ideal for what you want but just be wary of the reach measurements on them when you're looking!

We use something similar to these at work, not sure I'd trust the stability of a dual desktop stand. Was given a 49" ultrawide so use that now. Best thing I did for my home office was ditch my 500mm deep IKEA desk and get a 800mm canteliver deep desk. Could you not cut a hole in the back of the desk, assume it's got some kind of privacy board. |

I'm yet to do this but my desk is the same depth, maybe a tad shallower, and it kills my neck and back. Unfortunately it's a lovely home made thing my dad built about 40 years ago so it's not going to be thrown out, but equally neither do I have space to replace it with something else, and the chair slot is too narrow for a modern office chair. It harks back to typewriters, and cutting out photographic transparencies! I'm looking at making an extension for it akin to a shelf on the wall to give me the extra space I need but it's a pain trying to find something that'll look 'right' against aged pine.

Bought this one at the beginning of lockdown 1 and has served me well since then, very sturdy and loads of adjustment.

I went from dual 24” monitors to a single 32” curved. It doesn’t sound any bigger but it’s night and and day. Easy to split the screen (windows button and left/right arrow) and so much more free desk space. Last edited by Pentland; 01-15-2021 at 06:13 PM.. |

i run the 49" here https://www.cclonline.com/product/sa...ssuxen-278236/ i favour this monitor because it allows me to run 3 applications vertically, i'll regularly have two windows with code in and a browser open for reference. to get that 3 app split and keep it how i want it, i use powertoys on windows. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/powertoys/ fancy zones is your friend. im also trialling mosaic on my mac to do the same thing, but to date, ive yet to get it to do the simple thing powertoys does. |
