Exhaust question
My dealer is telling me that I need to purchase the exhaust tips. It's not included in the exhaust price????? Never heard of this before

I recommend you do some price compare with vendors who carry OE parts before you buy directly from your dealer.

It seems like hes talking about the MPE, not the exhaust that comes with the car.
And the MPE does indeed require tips to be purchased separately. BTW, anyone selling CF tips cheap?!

I got my MPE for $1,150 after some negotiating with the dealer. In terms of price eBay is probably your best bet, although some include the tips, and some do not. Since my dealer came through with a decent price and install quote I went that route.
The tips on the MPE are different and come with a laser engraved M emblem and are chrome. Killer look for sure (just make sure they fit them right, although easy to adjust afterwards). |

That's why I got the old MPE. 850 plus 100 for install and called it a day.

A quick look online I'm seeing around $1,100 including the chrome tips. If you can find a shop (or the dealer) to do the install you'd be all set.

I do not think tips add anything else except looks, but I could be wrong. The M Performance tips can be easily adjusted and removed using a hexagon tool. Not sure about the stock exhaust tips actually, if they have a fastener underneath it should be easy to put those on. If not, it might get more challenging.

Dude I just googled Mperformance exhaust and this was literally the first thing that came up. I haven't bothered searching any further. It's the old one. If the pricing for the new one is more than you are willing to pay get this one. It's a better option than no MPE.
Edit Read the description and this is the new MPE so with tips you should be around 1000. It's a win win for you here

Not sure where you are located but if you in SoCal, la habra area, try mod bargains. Just did mine 2 days ago. $965 everything included with tips, and charged an hour for install. They order directly from Bmw. If not SoCal, I know they ship as well, not sure if price would be worth it with shipping, but so just order and have a shop install for u

I bought it new for $6-700 from a seller here. Came with the M tips. Even that is asinine for an axle back but I knew I wanted more noise.
Whatever you do, put it on yourself. The factory piping is marked where to cut, grab some hi-temp sealant, and clamp it on with the supplied clamp. Takes longer to get the car on jackstands than it does to put the exhaust on.

Thanks for all the input. Got the dealer down to $750 + 225 for install. Very good price from my point of view. Originally got quoted $1650... I think the dealer needs the sale so they are selling it cheap
