The one edge I wil give audi is the headlights. I like how they don't bother to try and make a 'second' headlight in the housing. There really is only one headlight in each housing, and the dual corona rings are beginning to lose their touch with me.
I think the Audi looks bland in every other way. |

The more of the F30 I see, I like it even more. Compared to the Audi B8, IMO, BMW takes the cake. Although I obviously love the BMW kidney grilles, Audi has done a good job on the S4 to make such a huge grill look nice. Glad to see BMW is keeping strong

The Audi's actually look a bit pedestrian compared to the F30, and im not saying that because im a BMW owner. I actually like the A4's from Audi.

The BMW exterior from all angles looks better to me. The Audi center stack and console area seem a little more cohesive (not a fan of the stand alone BMW Nav screen. The instrument cluster on the BMW looks better to me.

Nice comparo. I agree that the 3 series is the better looking car.
One thing though: it seems to me that the 3 Series Sport line should be best compared to the A4 S line, rather than the standard A4, no? |

Whatever A4 you take, S-Line or not, it was, is and will always remain a damn ugly car. It even looks better on pictures than in reality.
It won't be a great deal for the F30 to top the sales figures of that A4 |

BMW builds the better driving car (although the new 5 has gotten a lot of criticism for its steering feel) but to these eyes, Audi trumps BMW aesthetically with just about every model.

And isn't the new 3 getting 5's steering. I also don't see how anyone can claims that F30's is anything but trying to make a cake with anything you got on that second shelf mentality. S4's rear looks like a Maserati granturismo, F30's like a G sedan. I don't carefor Audi's new headlights (2012 C300 anyone?) but current model's are pure elegance. I'm actually sad that at the time I need a sedan and can afford either, I want neither. I keep reading through all these posts and keep admiring E92's silhouette in everyone's sigs. I hope we at least get that with the new coupe. |

I'm gonna be "that guy" and say: neither of these two look as refined as the e46. I personally think that was the pinnacle of BMW's design, they've been downhill ever since. e90 was still good though, but now they are stooping to Audi's level... hmm

Put an e46 sedan right next to an f30 and it instantly looks dated. It still looks good and has aged real well for sure but let's get real, the f30 is 14 years of design advance. |

Placed together for comparison in the photos overall I think the Audi provides a nicer overall package. For me the big issues with the BMW are the headlights, the passenger side of the interior and the afterthought look of the nav which together gives the nod to the Audi.

Rev limiter will protect your engine from spinning too fast. Just don't downshift into a gear that's to short.
I usually wait until the temp needle starts to move, at which point I believe it's okay to drive fast. I don't redline either, I shift around 6 . |
