320.45/0.92 = 348.3ft-lb with kit

Gain of:
19.3hp at crank
33.1ft-lb at crank

310.18hp / 0.88 = 352.5hp with JB Stage 1
357ft-lb / 0.92 = 388ft-lb with JB Stage 1

Gains of:
40hp at crank
73ft-lb at crank

So BMW kit is almost exactly half of JB Stage 1. Simple

Pardon me, but where is the "stock" # of 310.18 hp and 357 ft-lbs coming from?

In fact, where are the stock crank #s coming from. Source? Why would one stock # be 35 horse off of another calculation?
310hp and 357ft-lb aren't stock. That is from JB tuning website for their dyno of a stage 1 N55.

That wasn't the stock numbers, they were:

275hp / 0.88 = 312.5hp stock
290ft-lb / 0.92 = 315.2ft-lb stock

275-277 is what I've seen stock F30 335i's dyno range about.
I think torque has been as high as low 300s, but he probably used the lowest numbers for the comparison.

Edit: Guy above me got it. That's the Stage 1 numbers for JB4, but that's the "high" of the two runs they show. The "low" is 307whp/341wtq.

Forgive me, but I don't understand the comparisons to JB4 Stage 1 and other aftermarket "off the shelf maps".

Why wouldn't people who are willing to buy those just go to a reputable local tuner and get a protune? Surely that will yield better results as the tune will be specific to your car and your car only.

Has anyone ever considered this?

Unsure if it can be "cracked"...it's not like an AEM tune or flash that can be done by any tuner...I loved those days with my Evo 8!!

Well the problem is most "professional" tuners suck. They only care about peak numbers and not longevity or drivability. Tuners like Terry or others have been tunning these cars for years. They not only tune customer cars they own them and do dataloging constantly to improve the product. Also they give you varibles to make changes to get more power if you take it to a professional.

Motortrend 0-60 for the 335i, rolling start and torque braking not eq 335is

If you refer to that original Motortrend video, they explained they were torque braking to get that 0-60 time which was bogus. A later review of the 2012 335i they got 4.7 from a rolling start and not a stand-still. Even one article calling out the 335is on this bad comparison data. I call it marketing.

Believe me the 335is can do 0-60 in 4.7 all day long without launch control even. Best reported times for the 335is are 4.6. Consistent times are 4.7.

If the 335is wont at least do it in 4.5 sec it would be sad. Doesnt the 335is come with the power kit, an overboost function, dual clutch tranny and better tires?

Ok, I'm going to have to admit my ignorance here. What the guy did in the video was get the rpm's over 2,000 and then release the brake from a standstill. Is this torque braking? If so, how is this different from dropping the clutch on a manual? And how does either make the 0-60 time bogus? Is there a standard protocol testers use to come up with a legit 0-60 where they go straight from brake to gas pedal with the engine at idle? Below is a link to the article and video. They mention how it gets the same time as the previous 335is. Please explain b/c I am confused...
