Should I get a downpipe?

I recently got this Eisenmann exhaust fitted (backbox and tips only)...

Although the sound is 10x better than standard I feel like it needs a bit more deeper rumble.
Would a downpipe resolve this and if so, do I also need a cold intake system?

If you're looking for a deeper rumble, the downpipe will not give you that result as least imo. I just had my downpipe installed yesterday and it gave the car a slight rasp to it with about 30% louder exhaust sound. Might be different for you though since I am on stock muffler and Dinan midpipe (also b58 engine).

Hopefully others can agree or disagree with me to give you more feedback

You will need a V8 for that deeper rumble.

Honestly though, it sounds good!

Downpipe will deff give you more turbo spool sound if anything plus the power gains are well worth it

What kind of power gain should you expect and how?s the warranty impacted?

Don't waste your money on a "cold air intake", as the stock system is just that. Instead, buy a freer-flowing drop-in filter to replace the stock paper filter, such as those from AFE or K&N. As for the downpipe, it will give you a little more noise, but it's the turbo itself that muffles the exhaust, so the downpipe is more for power than sound.

Also, your engine is an inline six, and it will never have the same type of rumble of a 90-degree V8 due to the number of cylinders and the firing order. What you have now sounds good.

Typically most service advisors/dealerships won't like anything modified.

I've got the MPE and felt just like you... it was great but I wanted some more deepness, because it sounded like it was still restricted... So I remembered that the old n55 MPE (for 135's) deleted the resonator so I figured why not, let me delete mine.

Made a WORLD of difference.. now it's perfect. There's no drone with the windows up and it sounds amazing when I step on it. With the windows down forget about it. Best $100 In total it was $835 to get the MPE and my resonator deleted. Worth every cent.

Downpipe will make the car sound more aggressive and louder.
In your case i would go with catted downpipe

I can’t get any exhaust. Even stock when it revs high its audible enough for people to stare n think you’re doing it on purpose. BMWs have a bad enough rep, I’ll leave the noise for infinitis, hondas, stangs n of course - Harley’s . New exhaust for performance is one thing but for added noise seems a little obnoxious nowadays. I wish these aftermarket ones did have like some silencing mechanism for when you do not don’t want it to be loud. Of course that’s just my opinion and the majority of anyone who has to hear it

Meistershaft GTG exhaust has an electronically controlled variable chamber to turn the valve on and off to select if you want it to growl like a lion or purr like a kitty. But... the exhaust cost like 3,500.

Which would you recommend for a catted downpipe? I live in CA by the way, but if it's not carb legal I would still install it, no biggie.

Thanks! I bookmarked it.. https://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-2...2-m235i-72013/

Going to go with the JB4 and that downpipe, and maybe look into a better intercooler.
