Own a 2015 328i xDrive - 2018 330i xDrive Loaner Impressions

I own a basically stock 2015 328i xDrive (N26) with 30k miles. Only upgrades are staggered 18" wheels with Hankook Ventus V12's.

Got rear breaks done a few days ago and was given a 2018 330i xDrive sportline as a loaner and I have to say, it was disappointing.

The steering feel, road feel, throttle response, accelleration and overall driving experience was just not on par with my 2015. I assumed that the car felt sloppy because it was a beater/loaner being driven on Boston streets, but it only had 3200 miles on it. Surely it couldn't have been that badly beaten up in such a short period of time (maybe I'm wrong). The car probably needed an alignment but it didn't even feel like a BMW imo.

I also thought the extended dash display was standard on 2015+ models, but I guess I was wrong. The 2018 had the analog MPG needle and it made the 2018 feel older than my 2015.

There were a few upsides - Had the super cool LED headlights, paddle shifters and the sport seats with the adjustable bolsters - I need those seats.

But after a day of driving, I was more than happy to get back into my 2015.

BMW sucks at handling compared to the e series. Pretty sure there aren't any handling differences between a 328 and 330.

2015 - F30 2018 = F30.

Aren't they essentially the same car?

You are not used to the different engine and summer tires vs all seasons.

I bought the car with all-season run flats and drove on them for 2 months - still a big difference from what I can remember.

Apparently the B48 seems to have more turbo lag, but a stronger top end.

Garage List
These are some of the changes from pre-LCI to LCI:

> Re-tuned power steering
> New front struts
> Uprated rear dampers
> 5 point mounting (opposed to three)
> Revised 8 speed gearbox
> Front LED's and design changes to rear's
> Upgraded interior materials
> Slightly different rear and front bumpers

And other factors come into play with what tires comes with your package and whether or not your car has VSS.
