if i shut off the DSC, wont the car be placed in "comfort mode"? im pretty sure i read somewhere on the forums...

also im confused by your "move shifter to the left without putting car in manual mode then it will down shift automatically" wouldnt moving the shifter to the left PUT the car in manual mode?

or are you talking about me pressing my paddle shifters which i believe puts the car in manual for the time being, but it goes back to automatic if i dont move the shifter to the left?..

Not exactly. DSC off changes the throttle mapping back to comfort, but suspension/etc is left in sport. There is a table somewhere on the forums (not at home so can't repost) that shows exactly what DSC off changes versus comfort/sport/sport+. But for the purposes of logging, the throttle mapping is irrelevant, because you will be 100% throttle anyways. The key thing is you do not want DSC interfering with your log, although you should not be spinning 4th gear anyways.

Moving the shifter to the left puts the transmission shift maps into sport, changes shift speed, etc (shown on the same table i am referring to). Note also that this mapping is independent of and in addition to the driving mode selection. So being in sport driving mode and then going into sport transmission (shifter to the left) will further change shift points and shift speed. But to answer your question, no - moving the shifter to the left does not engage manual mode. You need to manually shift either up or down with the shifter to the left to be in true manual mode, where the gear is locked, kickdown is disabled, and the car will not upshift at redline. Important for logging.

If you simply pull a paddle you will be in "temporary" manual mode. You dont want that for a log as i believe kickdown is not disabled.

wow... all this time i thought moving my shifter over to the left meant i was in manual mode and i used the paddle shifter to manually change gears.

i want to clarify, moving the shifter to the left only puts it into sports transmission, however ONLY after moving the shifter up and down will engage true manual mode...CAN i also use the paddle shifter to engage "true manual mode"?

all your other points duly noted as well.. thank you

Yes - move shifter to left = in sport transmission mode (change from D to S# in display, where # is current gear). You are not yet in manual mode since the car is still 100% automatic at this point; it will upshift and downshift just as in drive but with different shiftpoints and shiftspeed, etc.

move shifter to left THEN pull either paddle OR push shifter forward or back to change gear (upshift or downshift does not matter) = engage "true manual mode". Display changes from D to S# to M#. Once in M# with the shifter to the left you are truly locked in that gear, meaning kickdown should be disabled and you will not automatically upshift at redline. Log in this mode. Be careful not over-rev or hit rev limiter. Its not even necessary to go over 6500 rpm really, so just let off then.

Yes after you move the shifter to the left you can either move it up and down OR use the paddle to be in TRUE MANUAL MODE.

I had the car smoke tested and no leaks per my mechanic. But I am still getting huge deviation in boost as I get higher in rpm. This is such a pita.

Found the issue with my car. Had the car pressure tested again. The gfb dv+ is bleeding horribly. I just ordered the turbosmart bov. The turbo inlet pipe is leaking at the connection with cts intake.

If they know that is leaking, where did they pressurize from? Inlet to the CTS intake?

Stock inlet or aftermarket? You will enjoy the Turbosmart they are excellent quality. I replaced my factory DV with the plumb back and have loved it since.

I am not sure if I post it on this chat but I installed Dinan turbo. Boost holds just fine now and it keeps pulling up top.
