This is the link to the BMW ConnectedDrive update page; https://www.bmw.com/en/topics/offers...#firmware.html

Scroll down the page to the "Always Up-To-Date" section and you will see cell to enter your last 7 digits of your VIN to search for available updates.

How do you do this if you have a retrofitted NBT?

I've always wondered how to do this, and more-so as BimmerTech have activated my hardware directly without the use of an emulator.

Don't know as i suspect the website would recognize your VIN as not having the requisite hardware when it checks against your build sheet database.

Probably best to ask BimmerTech. I suspect they have a way.

I don't think that's the right page. The software update guide is from 2015 and lists older firmware versions https://legacy.bmw.com/_common/share...D07012_ENG.pdf

Then if I visit the compatibility page referenced on that link you sent (www.bmw.com/bluetooth) and enter my VIN it tells me "Your vehicle was not bought in the country currently selected. Please change your entry in the country selection".

BMW's websites are infamous for only offering ancient, obsolete versions of software.

bmw.com/update provides exactly the same (lack of) new software.

That is the correct link which I've used in the past and I just checked it again and works. I don't have any issues with entering the VIN (last 7 alphanumerics). BMW is horribly tardy about providing updates. The last for my 13 335i was released in late 15 and was still 3-4 releases behind the latest Apple IOS. Hasn't had a new release sense.

Have you done a BMW DECODE (http://bimmer.work) search on your VIN. The response you got about country selected doesn't make any sense.

This is pretty much total BS. The version on my car is (and has been) newer than what is on BMW's website. I updated it almost 2 years ago, with what I had downloaded from their site. But now the version there is older.

@otay - do you mean my opinion was "baloney" or that BMW's software delivery is BS?

Nah, not your opinion, I actually "appreciated" your post. Was referring to BMWs pathetic attempt to keep customers up-to-date and informed.

Here's another one... Ever tried their recall search?
https://www.bmwusa.com/safety-recalls.html

For my VIN, it shows "There are no open recalls for your vehicle." Yet there have been 2, and that's what NHTSA site shows, too. Not sure what's up with that...

Any way to update my 4-2016 340xi build? I've had intermittent bluetooth problems with my android, especially if I leave and come back to the car it'll only play audio for <1 sec I have to disable and reenable bluetooth either on the radio/phone to get it working again.

The website says no new software available and i've never seen it update OTA

Have a dealer update your car's software if it's in warranty. Just say your bluetooth isn't working okay.

What software version are you on?

Bmw.com/update shows am update that is in the MN/TN 002. Range.

I had my ECUs updated at Dealership last month to the 2017.07 builds and the MN/TN in NBT is 003.003.001

Assuming they should be latest with the ECU updates as it wiped out all custom coding that had been done, but really unsure.

Clearly the 003 is higher than the 002 and 001 showing on the bmw.com/update link.

My current version, which I downloaded 2 years ago and updated myself, is 003.003.001-012.018. Pic is from 2 years ago, yet the version on the Update site today is older...

Same as mine I guess.

Agree site older, as I mentioned.

Guess the ECU update did nothing in this respect.

Donor VIN

Go online and find a BMW for sale. VIN's are generally included in car ads. Find a make/model from the year that the model of your NBT came in. Use the last 7 of that cars VIN. You're just downloading the NBT update software.

I thought about that option a week ago for this forum. Unfortunately as the NBT has access to so many of the options that are not included on all cars, I did not post as I am concerned it might wipe out some of the cars installed options, especially after seeing how many different firmware versions there are in the PDFs associated with new firmware.
