Fuel Rail Revision?

Hi Everyone.

As I inspected my engine bay before I replace this leaking fuel injector, I noticed my fuel rail is not like the ones I see in the pictures with removable fuel lines, but instead is all one piece. So I will have to jump through several hoops before I can get the lines out of the way to remove the #1 fuel injector.

The new fuel rail is 13537649710, which supersedes 13537628049.

Does anyone know the reason behind this change? Was it some sort of EU5 -> EU6 requirement? Is the old design bad? Or was it just to make a technician's life more interesting?

Are the two rails interchangeable? Is there any reason I wouldn't want to retrofit the old rail onto my motor?

My 2015 F22 has that newer rail. Like you mentioned it may just be an EU6 thing. I swapped all of my injectors out for fresh and I have to say it was a breeze to do.

Just in case you aren't aware (I wasn't at the time) EU6 injectors do not need to be "coded".

Oh really? I haven't installed ISTA/D yet but I was planning to after I get the injector in. I'm just waiting on the car to cool off a little more now, I have it broken down to the rail at this point.

Did you have to actually *remove* the rail or were you able to just kinda rotate it out of the way? I am hoping to do that.

I just forced the rail over enough to do what I needed in there. I used one of the little screw on cap portion of the removal tool for leverage. I would wiggle it around in a circular motion and let it sit for a minute. Do that several time before trying to pull it out directly upwards.
