Sudden service indicator warning

Today when I picked up my car after an extra oil and brake service I got a red color warning that the Vehicle check was 240km overdue. I did not have any warning of this before this service. And when the BMW service guy read the key he did not say anything about this. Could this warning have been triggered because they registered the extra oil service in the car service history? Was it a mistake that I did not tell them to not register the extra oil service as I have told them in the past (as it is extra and not according service schedule). I know I checked the service need in december and nothing was close in time. Now BMW want to charge me for the Vehicle check service.

I found a photo in my phone a year ago that the Vehicle check was to be done 09/2021 or in 34000km. I haven been driving 18000km since that date.

I feel kind on annoyed by this as I have been meticulous to always service the car in time to not get any orange or red colors.

The service check warnings are triggered based on time or distance/conditions.

I had a similar situation with my pre-owned 4 series. I was carefully tracking the mileage count-down on the display and then suddenly got an alert I was overdue, yet the display also said I still had 1500 miles before service. Turns out, the previous inspection was 12 months prior and that was what triggered the alert and not the mileage.

The Vehicle Check service isn't worth paying a krona for. You can find what it consists of here:

There isn't anything there that even the most ham fisted amateur mechanics can't handle, and for that matter should be keeping track of on their own on a regular basis. I'd clear the interval in iDrive and forget about it. Just don't forget about tending to these items.

Thanks for the info and yes it is just some inspections which some of them they alreay did during the service of oil and brakes and now I have to book another service and pay almost 100USD juist to get rid of that warning. I guess it will still be red in the service history as overdue. How to you clear the interval yourself?

On the Control Display:
1. "Vehicle info"
2. "Vehicle status"
3. "Service required"
Required maintenance procedures and legally
mandated inspections are displayed.
4. Select an entry to call up detailed information.
5. Reset.
