I think the flexing in the front carrier on cornering would justify one. For the rear, I would be focused on its side travel on the bushings. That would mean it needs to be tied to the chassis. The compression struts should already take care of some of the forward and backward travel during heavy braking and drag acceleration. These carriers should not be flexing much at all under normal driving conditions.

What is the point of an aftermarket strut brace when the stock strut brace seems to be made of heavy steel and is probably stronger than any aluminum bar you can get? It also has the advantage of bolting on to the firewall. I'm asking honestly, because I don't exclude the possibility that an additional strut brace might tighten things up even more. I just don't see it making any discernible difference, though.

First feeling is significantly different and the proof of efficiency is in what you feel.
Handling is more precise and more enjoyable as far as i'm concerned.

I retrofitted the F80 strut brace which goes one step beyond by bolting to the outer frame as well, not just between struts towers.

The stock bar is a V, which means it can bend and is designed to bend, a strut brace limits the movement of the struts top points and as a result keeps the general geometry tidy, that otherwise allow some movement.

I just bought this strut bar for ~$50: https://www.jom.de/en/passend-fuer-b...ahr-ab-10-2011

Fitment is good and it looks cool but I am not sure how much good it does since the mounting plates are very weak.

Installed mine today from Megan Racing. $85 - Quality seems good, but my '13 xdrive has a totally different 3 bolt pattern that I see in other f30 example. The third bolt is in back of the shock tower instead of the front.

Two holes still line up, so it should be fine.

Price is good. What are your driving impressions after having it on?

you are absolutely right,,, no one really knows IN NUMBERS how does it differ with an aftermarket one,, its only left to the feels of the drivers,, which is not precise for every one of us of course ,,, but check the design of the OEM and the aftermarket ,, they are different ,, maybe the V shaped OEM is designed to bend sideways ,,
The only down side of the aftermarket one is that the dealership here in Egypt wouldn't take it off , u have to take it off at your shop before going to the dealership,, its a pain in the ass really

I believe upsidedownfunnel is right about the bending that could happen to the V shaped OEM strut bars ,,, I'm not that track guy that pushed the car to the limits ,,,, as far as i "felt",, it made a difference going over bumps (car felt more solid and the inertia felt downwards when getting "off" a speed bump (cause we have alot of them here) is decreased significantly,, plus the car felt more solid when cornering ,,,
I believe the is a way to measure all of this
The only pain u ll get is that whenever you change the oil u ll have to remove it,, cause u can't reach the oil filter with this thing on

Hey,
According to the manufacturer these requiring trimming or removal of the ecu cover for installation. This is confusing because on my 2015,the ecu is on the right side of the engine. It doesn't appear to be anywhere near the strut brace. And in their photos the main engine cover is installed, so it looks like it would be fine. What gives?

Why bother with ones that don't fit the 5 bolt top mounts. The 3 bolt is an old design - it means they haven't bothered to update their products.

Get the Ultra Racing version. It clears the B58.

All the ones that I have found are 3-bolt mounting, with a notch for the nub that sticks up between bolts 2 & 3.
Anyway my car is the n55 and I have a 5 bolt strut tower, 6 if you count the bolt which the OEM strut-firewall brace is attached to. If you have a link, pass it on.
And to the guy above, 800$ is ridiculous. Megan racing is selling directly for 109

A lot of times sellers will jack up the price like that when they're out of stock so they don't have to take down the listing.

KC Design's strut bar fits 5 bolt pattern tops.
