Mods before Bootmod3?

Hi guys, just wondering if you think that I should do some mods before tuning my 2014 320i with bootmod3. Like an Air Intake? or can I just do the flush and then add better intake and exhaust?

Thanks!

Intake will make some fun noises but that's about it, not more than a 2-3 hp difference.

Air intakes just make noise, unless that's what you want, which is fine. I'd drop in an aFe Pro Dry air filter. (~$75) It's a lifetime filter that you just wash with soapy water and let air dry. Save your old filter to put in for a day or two while the aFe filter dries.

You don't need any other upgrades to flash BootMod3 Stage1. When you are ready for Stage2 then upgrade the intercooler and downpipe. My preferences are the Wagner Competition FMIC for the least turbo lag. And a catted high performance downpipe from Fabspeed, Wagner or Evolution Raceworks depending on your budget and state emissions issues.

Hope this helps!

In my experience an intercooler is a nice to have for stage 1. You can definitely run without it as i did for a while but in my case i was definitely seeing timing being pulled due to iats rising very quickly with the stock IC.

I think the only thing recommended by pro tuning freaks is colder plugs. You could just tune and when something goes replace it. Stock chargepipe is horrible and should changed probably before tune. Intercooler should be on your list down the road.

Charge pipe = not much news on blown cp on N20/26 in 328i form ... OP has 320i

Intercooler = really? Does OP going to the track.
Intake = just noise
Exhaust = maybe that burble... lol

Agree with this thought. Start here, you will see the most power gain going BM3 stage 1. If you get that and still want more then go for more mods.

Fair. I'm holding out on the 340i for now since I'm a somewhat broke college student lol

I would still upgrade the charge pipe if tuning the car. The risk might be lower on this engine, but still not worth it in my opinion
