You don't need to use soap and water, only hot air to heat it up during installation. It's super durable and very easy to install, even if it's your first time. I've tried various cheap vinyls and it's a pita to install them, they're often very thick and stiff. And when using soap and water it's much easier to get air bubbles under the wrap.
