This might be a reaction to the current conditions in the European market (so slow they diverted 25% of inventory to US/NoAm). They have to be more competitive to ensure they make volume for a new model / completely new series. I expect prices then to be higher on 4er options to make it up.

Because there were idiots that thought, and I quote, that the F32 was going to be $10-15k more than the equivalent F10.

This is sounding good. Just hope the exhaust doesn't really come out looking like this concept.

One year is a very long time in automotive industry, especially in the middle of the European financial storm, USA has a "financial cliff" and Chinese depend from both markets.
Also inside BMW there are many things that will need attention. Not to mention, that some people are probably going to seek new challenges somewhere else (to put it kindly). |

Even though Euro pricing really means nothing... I'm still not sure why everyone has their panties in a bunch over the price. BMW is a business and would never price themselves out of the market. They still have to compete with the A5, C-Class Coupe, Cayman, G37, etc... Expect the pricing to be competitive with those cars. Maybe not less than all of them but still competitive.

It's not really a fair comparison because costs usually go down as you go up the line up (3er to 5er) but the price estimates for the F10 M5 were pretty much on par and even in some cases, positive because it was as much or cheaper than the E60 M5.
While we all thought the the idea of the 4er was charge an even greater premium then what the E92 was over the E90, it shouldn't be that big of a surprise if BMW kept the same or similar price structure for the F30/F32. The only question is how much more expensive will it be to add on those options found on the Concept if they do exist. That's where BMW is probably planning on banking the money. |

You highly doubt what? Math? The price difference between an E90 and E92 is $2,050. The rumored price difference between an F30 and F32 is $2,618. The delta between the difference from the old generation to the new is $568, which is a 30% increase in the delta if the rumor holds to be true.

I think they don't want to repeat their pricing mistake with the 6er. It has literally priced itself out of the market.
Don't forget the F32's competitors include not only Audi A5, but also Mercedes C-class coupe. |

As I mentioned in another post the projected price increase is reasonable and the projected launch date for North America as of now to be sometime late summer 2013 also sounds reasonable. If the projections are incorrect, BMW will have:
1. Overpriced the F32 2. Will lose all the free press coverage it now enjoys and will have the added cost of reintroducing the car at a later date. |

I was one of the enthralled yesterday, but I was also one of the ones expecting a massive price increase.
If it is really only this modest increase over the F30, SIGN ME UP. My lease is up next September, so I could slide into one of these no problem. I had already starting building out an F30, sadly, having seen these concept pics. Scott's guidance suggest this will be my next car. |
