6MT Shifting advice

I have been experimenting with different foot positions while shifting. Question: when you depress the clutch pedal, do you plant your heel on the floor mat? Or do you have your foot floating in the air? How about when releasing the pedal? Release with heel dragging on the floor mat? Heel pivoting on the floor mat to release the clutch with your foot alone? Some combination of releasing with foot and leg? What is the proper clutching method?

The clutch pedal has a lot of travel so nearly impossible to complete a full swing with your heel on the floor. If you adjust your seat properly, you should be able to fully depress the clutch with a slight bend at the knee. Your heel probably will be floating. As you release it and get to the grabbing point, you can plant your heel to get more control and slowly engage the clutch.

When shifting at speed, it's a more fluid motion so no need to plant your heel at all. Just practice the timing so it shifts smooth with minimal slip.
