Drop in filter is going to give you as much performance as any intake would, only benefit of a different intake is going to be if you want more noise. Paper filter is also sufficient but custom tuners (Cary Jordan as an example) has recommended upgrading the panel filter.
I opted for a catted downpipe as they have been rated to give 97% of the performance a catless downpipe would, without the added smell of catless. B58 Engines and our turbo's don't have Blow Off Valves, it's handled by an electronic wastegate. B58's also don't have the charge pipe issues N55's do. Charge Pipes have been rated past 500whp so you're good there. I'd recommend the following AFE Dry Flow Drop-In Filter CG Precision DS-1 Downpipe |

A blow-off valve is not used in current models. Pressure peaks, caused by sudden load shedding due to the inertia of the turbine of the exhaust turbocharger, can be avoided by careful tuning of the Digital Motor Electronics software. With foresighted charging pressure control, pressure peaks can be predicted and reduced by quick adjustment of the electrically-adjustable wastegate valve. Assisted by a delayed load control of the Valvetronic (in the minimum lift direction) or the throttle valve (in the closed direction), the remaining charge air which is produced can be routed to the exhaust emission system via the engine. This form of control thus prevents the exhaust turbocharger shaft from being exposed to excessive torsional stress due to high pressure peaks. |

Performance wise intake or filter will give you same power but an actual intake sounds a lot better

As much as it was said the B58 has no diverter valve, something is dumping a "whistle sound" on hard gear changes on my 2016 at lower gears. There is a 4-way stop by work that once you clear the intersection with the windows down, sound bounces off the stop sign with a clear "pressure dump sound" that I'd say was a diverter valve. It is 100% outside the cabin, and VERY noticeable.

I run an MHD Stage 2 tune with stock DP, stock intake and filter panel, stock Champion plugs gapped as they came from the factory, E30. Data logs and power is perfect. Good for 11.5@121mph

I have some NGK 94201 SILZKGR8B8S that I'll replace the Champion plugs with when I need to. I'm at 37,000 km (23,000 miles) and unless any issues will change at 50,000 km and leave as gapped by NGK at 0.75mm. I've pulled the Champion plugs recently to see how they're going and they're looking good.

+1 on CTS Turbo Downpipes
I believe elg0rd0yadigg is working on a multiple car discount deal (Intakes/DP and Spark Plug) from the local Bootmod3 Dealer in our state.
