Fly in rear LED lamp lol - warranty?

Hi!

Today I was removing the 320i emblem in my car and I noticed that.. I've got a dead fly in my rear right lamp

Do you have any ideas how did it come into the lamp ? and how to remove it?

My car is still on warranty and Im wondering if I go to dealer would they handle it under warranty repair somehow? Because as far as I know it shouldnt be there

If it helps at all I can tell that I have the same problem in my F36

At least in my case compressed air did not help. So far it has not bothered me enough to remove the lamp, maybe next summer...

Im just after dealer on site visit. I've spoken with a guy that is handling my service and he was kinda shocked about my "friend" in lamp
He didnt know the answer though but he called more experienced service worker and he said that if my car has warranty(it does) they will handle it under warranty repair
They will try first with compressed air and if this wont help they will need to take the lamp off and take a closer look onto it. Im driving my F30 to the service on thursday

I took it to my dealer here in Austin TX and they said that it is not covered under warranty and would cost $575 for them to disassemble and remove the spider that is in my tail light.

Damn... thats not good. Wondering why there is different approach in US and here in EU. Can I help you somehow? My car is right now at the dealership and they are replacing light just now. Maybe I can take a picture of documentation that ill get and send it to you so u can show it to them? However it will be in polish

Next summer is here and I finally tackled this, since a dead fly weighs almost nothing it was impossible to shake it loose so I ended up drilling a small hole in the side of the lamp body and used a metal wire to move the fly. I could not figure out any passage how to get it out so I crushed it to small bits with the wire and used a vacuum cleaner to suck out the bits thru the drilled hole. Black silicone to fill the hole and job completed.

What an odd find...

I was going to ask if you guys had an LCI, but if they are LED then the answer is yes. Flies can get in during bulb changes but I don't believe there are any access ports or anything like that to remove on the LEDs, they are just sealed units. I could be wrong.

Only way I can think that may have happened was during assembly somehow.

My F36 is pre-LCI and its inner EU spec light has in addition to the led bars still regular bulbs for the reversing light and fog light and even the bulb holder is not sealed like in some units. However from there you only have a clear passage to the area where the bulbs are, the fly was in this separate area between the outmost plastic and the next layer and I cannot see how to get in there but probably there is a passage somewhere.

Ah, right. Forgot about the reverse lights. Those are still halogen on the LCI, but the rear fogs became LED. I suppose it's possible for one to navigate its way through that if the bulb was out long enough for it to fly in.

The lights have some kind of vent to prevent condensation. That’s how they get in.
