Two week update:
Changed the factory spark plugs that had 38k on them. Even smoother power delivery. My average MPG dropped from about 28.5 to 24.0. But did I mention how much MORE POWER there is? Well worth the trade-off. Easily the best $600 mod I've ever done to a car. Next up is to squat it a little with some ACS springs and B6s.

I was driving this weekend in 120F (about 50 degree Celsius) degree weather. Pretty crazy hot. I was running ACN 91 gasoline on my ACN 91 stage 1 tune for N20.

I get drive train malfunction every time at redline when it shifts from 5th to 6th gear (speed is about 120mph). This only happens at redline in 5th. Never happens in lower gears. If I shift before redline, no malfunction. I check for codes and I have none. The car runs fine as well after drivetrain malfunction - no reduced power. A restart will clear the malfunction.

Anyone know what is going on? Is it too much heat and too much load for the tune?

Could be exceeding torque rating for those gears at those miles per hour. I am not positive, though.

I got a drivetrain malfunction again today. This time it was not hot outside. Same, only happened at redline when automatic shifting to the next gear. I can shift manually before redline and it will not have malfunction. It reset itself after turning the car off.

I used bootmod3 to read the codes, and it gave me a "120308 boost pressure too low" as the only code

I was able to speak to bootmod3 OTS map support and they were able to fix the issue for me after I explained the problem. Flashed, logged a run and all set. Fast turnaround and good experience. Logging a full 5th gear pull was a bit difficult but I was able to get it in.

They reduced the boost pressure and ignition timing at high rpm and everything is running smooth now. Looks like the OTS ACN 91 map is a little aggressive for the conditions we have in California.

It has been a few weeks since my final update from BM3 support. I went through 4 test files and lots of logging with BM3 support. It looks like ACN 91 fuel is pretty bad.

The final tune after all the logs and tests feels a lot like stock. He said this is as much as can be safe for the car based on California's 91 octane fuel. Even stock tune will pull timing on ACN 91 fuel...

Pretty disappointed that BM3 couldn't unlock much power safely due to the bad fuel here. The current "safe" power output is way down compared to the OTS ACN 91 map.

I have a 2012 328i and just flashed a 93 stage 2 bm3 tune and am having a couple problems. First being a very stubborn/shaky idle. Second is an odd droning/ muffling noise coming from the exhaust when in partial throttle when not fully into boost. It sounds as if you put a muffling cone in a trumpet horn if that makes sense. It runs perfectly fine when in WOT and isn't lacking any power so it doesn't seem too serious, just curious if anyone knows what could be going on/ any suggestions on what to do.

Did you change your plugs as well? The low idle is common. I added stage 2 BMS3 with a catless downpipe. After deleting the cold start I noticed it idles around 600rpm.

Edit: I think maybe it’s cause you have an N26 (me too) and our stock downpipe has an extra restrictive CAT compared to N20. I’m going to get a hiflow and probably go straight to stage 2. I’m in CA as well. Hopefully that will give me a noticeable difference at FBO or else I’m just wasting time and money modding this car and would just be better off saving for a new one lol

Damn bro that sucks....I have 2016 F36 N26... I'm running regular Bm3 ots91 s1 map with no problem. Log look fine. I live in socal.

I guess every engine is different.

hi I just purchased used 2014 428i coupe with only 17,000miles, I love the car, and want to purchase bm3, but I'm so new to this I'm afraid to break the car as I saw in another forum that due to DME locked the car had to go to dealer to reset, I see you have also 428i, did you experience any trouble tuning it with bm3? my car is full stock now, and I'd like to try the stage 1 93 octane. and another question is if I can get tune thought my iPhone 12 instead of laptop? Thanks in advanced.
