Rattling in undercarriage
Good morning/Afternoon/Evening fellow bimmer mechanics, i have a major rattling issue. i’ve taken it once to get diagnosed and they told me it was a wastegate rattle so i upgraded my turbo and swapped out all those components and it’s still the same issue. Even changed the electronic wastegate. It only happens when my car is in gear and accelerating at every/any speed. It’s driving nearly insane. I think it possible could be my torque convertor or possibly the drive shafts flex disk. I’ve purchased a new torque convertor but before i drop my tranny and wsste 9 hours of my life i’d rather be 1000% certain.

This is posted in the Diesel forum, is that correct?
Not sure how a wastegate-sounding noise could be a torque converter tbh. Lots of info missing - does it sound dull/tinny, metallic/plastic? Does it match Wheel rotation or RPM? Can you get the noise on video? Driveshaft guibo is a common cause of noise from underneath the car if the knocking is somewhat relative to wheel rotation. |
