Rear Windshield Tint Removal
Just came back from a state inspection and was told my car failed due to the rear windshield tint being too dark. Was told it was 8%, vs the legal limit of 35%. I bought the car used last year, so I had no idea.
So I called a window tinting specialist in Stoughton who said he does not remove tint from rear windshields due to liability issues. Does anyone have any recommendations for a shop that can remove the tint from my rear windshield? |

I had the same issue when I moved to NH, my windows were tinted sides and rear and I had to remove the tint from my front side windows due to NH law. I removed it myself, but not sure exactly the process and tools I used though, I did it back in 2000. I just did a quick search on YouTube and there looks like you will find plenty of help if you have to do it yourself.
Most likely the liability they are talking about is the electric defroster on the rear window. As for shops there is Tint King in Billerica and Tint Works in Burlington |

The wallpaper steamer worked great. Place a towel to catch the water rolling down the glass from the steam, and take it slow. Start from one corner and go from there; steam then peel, and repeat.
