Used 2014 435i purchase price feedback please
Hey,
Looking for pricing feedback. A family friend has a f32 2014 435i xdrive msport with premium package in the estoril blue. Has the msport brakes and suspension with the variable steering. Only has 93k km on the odometer. Auto trader shows these cars list for $27-30,000 across Canada. The family friend will let it go for $500 over his total value trading it in. So only $19k for me to purchase plus taxes of course. The car had a “cosmetic” accident worth $8k a few years back in the front left. Looking under the hood it still has all the original headlights so I’m thinking the accident couldn’t have been that bad? It just had new brakes (pads and rotors) done 20k ago. But the maintenance done has mostly only been oil changes. So I know it’s likely coming up on valve cover gasket and oil filter housing gasket. Also maybe throw in the water pump dieing soon… Is $19k a steal for the car in the current pandemic pricing we live in? I’m arranging a inspection at a local collision shop to go over the car before purchase. Still has the original 19” 442msport rims with new rubber and a 18” set of black rim with almost toast winter tires. Thanks, Chris Last edited by Chriscabob; 01-12-2022 at 06:56 PM.. |

3 weeks ago I got into fully loaded 2015 f36 435xi 72k km accident free, paid 32k ppi result came back with needing plugs and tires, dealership took care of the tires and wrapped em in brand new Michelin's.
I think your price is pretty good but I'd definitely take it to a reputable mechanic for a Pre purchase inspection before committing. My last car RIP 09 335i had an accident before I bought it, took it to RMP for a Ppi and the only issue that was found was gaskets mainly and plugs had to be changed. Get the ppi and tell the mechanic about your concern and they'll definitely let you know if they see anything strange, make sure to let then know about the previous accident so they could take a careful look at the area. I wouldn't wanna deal with any structural/mechanical damage for the life of the car even if I got it at a "steal". Make sure you know what you're getting into even tho you're getting it at a good price. EWG n55s are generally more reliable than an N54 but things like: oil EVERYTHING gaskets, blown chargepipe, coolant hoses, boost lines, coil packs, injectors are typical "maintenance items" that you'd have to watch for/replace during your ownership of the vehicle. Get the ppi and make an informed decision.

MJuice thanks for the response.
I see we both came from the 335. I had a 2010 e92 that someone blew a yield sign and totalled the car. (Side note dashcams are a life saver in he/she said situations). I will definitely have the mechanic spend some time on the front left. I also don’t want a car plagued by a past accident that will affect how it drives. Totally aware of the maintenance of the N55 coming from the N54 where I had to do plugs and a single coil. Had the dealer do the valve gasket as they replaced the cover at the same time when it developed a crack. Will update in a week or two if all is clean. Sadly won’t get the car until March as it’s from out of province and that’s the earliest I will be able to pick it up. But at least I had a test drive two weeks ago. Missed that cold start exhaust sound. |

Yeahh I loved the e90, the 335i was my first car and I can't see myself driving anything of a "lesser" experience lol.
Just ordered a set of the new Dinan ignition coils for $30 a pop and oem plugs for $10 each from "park auto motorsports" I found that they carry a bunch of Dinan products if you plan on going that route. Pricing is really good considering Dinan doesn't ship to Canada directly. Ow yeah the cold start is definitely music to my ears. The gran coupes valve works different than f30/32 and mostly remains closed… prolly will get the valve remote before summer too, to even out the build up on the exhaust tips 😁 and the occasional eargasm Hope the car checks out clean and you get it 🤞

A dealer was going to pay 20k plus taxes for your friends 2014 435i? I was only offered 12k+ taxes from Tesla for my 2014 335i everything but HUD, MPPK, and xdrive. And it only has 65k kms with no accidents and this was only 2 months ago.

Safety and PPI was just done on Monday. Needs a front left tie rod and tint removed for safety. But has a close to dead battery, a “damp” but not leaking seal on the output shaft from the transfer case and highly recommends a new rear bmw electric dampening shock as the right one was just replaced a month ago from a pot hole and because the owner was planning to trade in only did the one side rather than replacing the pair. So for safety another $4-500 and then the shock and battery and seal is about $2.5k. So 19k car is now 22k car with al the needed and recommended repairs if I’m still interested. Been thinking about it for a few days. Accident site was confirmed to be only cosmetic as they could tell a brand new bmw OEM bumper and side panels were put on in 2015 but still had all original parts inside including headlights and no bends to suspension or frame etc. Last edited by Chriscabob; 01-26-2022 at 09:47 AM.. |

OP that's still very a decent price, and you'll have those components replaces and won't have to worry about em for awhile… cheapest f32 435i right under 100k km is still 30k +tax it seems, just checked the autotrader and I searched "national". You could buy it and sell it and still make a couple thousand bucks

But regardless I’ve told the owner I will buy it and the shop is ordering in the recommended electric shock and tie rod that was required for safety. Will do the battery on my own using bimmercode and bimmerlink which I already have 2-3 weeks for parts to come in and then my in laws will caravan up with their suv and the car in the beginning of March as they are coming to visit anyhow. I will fly down to NB to meet them halfway and drive the car the remaining 1000km myself. |
