Anyone Use a Car Cover?

Hey everyone, I keep going back and forth on a car cover since I don't have a garage and don't drive my car that much and if at all during the winter. For anyone rocking a cover, how has your experience been with one? What brand do you have? Thanks!

I bought one and used it once, and returned it. I washed my car thoroughly before, and put it on my car for a day. Dust and pollen still managed to get underneath the material even though the cover was made to be fitted to my exact car, and I had some minor scratches/scuffs when removing it. I'm curious to see what brand covers others are using that avoid damage to the car paint.

Yeah dust will get underneath and scratch it more. Better to get clear bra or paint protection. Get the self healing kind.

If you have a driveway get a car port:

They will aggressively scratch whatever is under them.
We cover our motorcycle over, and the backside of the exhaust where the cover rubs the most has rubbed all the paint off. Certainly isn't a clear coated spot, but it shouldn't be rubbing off either.

Don't recommend getting a cover if your gonna leave the car outside especially if your vehicle is wrapped. Did that once on my Audi and that was a disaster.

I cover my outside car. Negatives don't offset It being exposed

From what I'm getting from these is, it would be a better investment for a storage unit.

I use a Budge Tyvek cover that's very lightweight and nearly as thin as paper. Car stays much cleaner than without and in the summer I can park in the shade and it keeps all the tree crud off. I just pull the nose off and pull it into a rubbermaid container in the trunk. Takes 90 seconds. 2 clips down by the front fogs help keep it from blowing off. If it's windy I don't use it. Size 2 fits tight on bumpers, size 3 is a bit big. You dont want to mess with it when it's wet. Let it dry or leave it off.

eta - The box says like 5 or 7 years, but they only last about a year or so if you use them daily, as the Carolina summer sun weakens them. They were only $30 each with free shipping, so I've used 2-3 and have 2-3 more.

You have to get the right kind. If wind can find its way from underneath it, it's not gonna help that much. However, if you park in a garage structure that just has dust rather wind, it will be just fine.

I would get one if I was storing it for the entire winter season. If you plan on taking it on and off the vehicle must be clean before putting it on.

Never cover a car that's stored outside. Rodents, small animals, dust, debris, contaminants, etc will all find their way under the cover and cause varying amounts of damage. Covers are best suited for inside storage.
