Coding Tutorial

Posted this a while back in a regional coding thread. Here's a video I put together to give new starters a simple guide to understand the logics of coding. Hopefully, it's useful to some.

Hey, great video! I have a few questions if you don't mind answering. First, is the car supposed to be on while the computer is connected? Or just the ignition on? And which files should I back up in the event that I want to restore everything back to normal/stock? And how would i do this? Lastly, could i code all of the things that i want to code in one "session"?
Thank you!!!

Sorry for the late reply.

Yes, the vehicle must be on but the ignition is optional depending on how much battery power you have left. Usually it's recommended to backup the cars original FA, SVT & CAFD files incase you overwrite something and want to backtrack. When you read the files in Esys it writes a copy of the file to the folder location just manually navigate to the paths & store on a USB memory stick for safe keeping. When changes are made it will overwrite the last files with new one. Yes, you can code everything in one session before applying it to the vehicle.

It is also possible to read and save all the ".ncd" files and make changes offline. Once you have saved the edited files, you simply reconnect to the car, load the changed files and FDL code. This is more convenient when you make a large number of changes, e.g., I made 31 changes to 7 modules.
