Blue Msport Calipers

I'm still so confused about this. I have a 2017 340i xDrive Msport w/o the track package. I currently have the front gray calipers, and I'm looking to upgrade the rears to the blue Msport brakes. What size calipers do I need to do this upgrade? 340 or 370?

I know there are a ton of different threads about this, but I can't seem to figure out the right ones for my car.

Hope someone can help me with this.

340 and 370 are for the fronts.

If you have the 4 piston grey front calipers then you already 340mm in front. So some cars came with blue calipers that accommodate 340mm rotors and others came with blue calipers that can accommodate 370mm rotors. its stamped on the rear of the caliper what size rotor the caliper can accommodate.

for the rears you more than likely have a single piston caliper. you can upgrade to a two piston mperf caliper which will require a 345mm rotor.

So the rear blue calipers I should look for are 370/340? Would I be able to reuse any parts from my stock rear brakes?

the rear 2 piston blue calipers will need a 345mm rotor. what you will need will depend on what you can source with the calipers. for example, my calipers came with the sensors and pads. some calipers will not...it depends. you will def need 345mm rear rotors. It is unlikely you'll be able to use anything from your current setup.

the 370/340 is for the front only. you already have the 340mm rotors on the front of your car.

You could always buy the M Performance BBK offered by BMW for your car.

Buy these and they bolt up. you just need rotors.

Get your calipers powdercoated the color you want and you are good to go.

Are blue calipers off an M3 the same as any other blue sport calipers? The only difference between the M3 and a sport F series sport are the rotors?

Thanks

depends what you mean by sport.

in front, Some of the F series cars got blue calipers with 340mm rotors and some came with the 370mm rotors. The calipers for the 370 have longer mounting ears to accommodate the larger rotor. The F30s with the larger discs have the m-performance pack or whatever its called (sport?). The F80 M3 comes with a 370mm rotor in front, 4 piston calipers and will mount to the F30.

M Sport Brakes (blue) on 4cyl F3x= 340/345
M Sport Brakes (blue)on F22 (all engines) = 340/345
M Sport Brakes on (blue) 6cyl F3x= 370/345

Note m sport brakes are a standalone option or included in track handling package. Not part of normal m sport package.

M Perf brakes = 370/345 brakes w/ dimpled rotors

The F80/F82 M3/M4 has 380mm front discs. The M Performance BBK for f3X's has 370mm front discs. I have the kit, and it's pretty awesome.

Thanks 435i_Phil

Regarding the BBK...are you noticing sounds coming from the disks?

Reading other threads, there seems to be a few upset drivers out there that don't like the slotted/dimpled disks.

thx

I didn't know this...interesting. i have never seen the m3 380mm stamp on the back of the caliper. I wonder if the m3 setup use the same sized pad as the 370mm setup...

Same pads, same bolts, same everything. The M upright is what makes it possible to fit the two different rotors.
