What Gap to use? Installing NGK Spark Plugs Weds.

I have 2013 f30 n55 335ix 6mt. I have bootmod3 stage 1 93 octane. with drop in afe filter. Getting charge pipe installed same day as NGK 97506 sparkplugs. Bootmod3 recommends .020 or .018 gap. I have been recommended .024 gap because of reports of rough idle from the other gaps.

Right now I am experiencing between 3k and 4k rpm a stutter or lose of power in wot. I have posted my diagnostic results in another post and have been told I am running high boost for a stage 1 tune.

Looking to see what gap I should use this weds that has given other the most success in holding higher boost levels and maintaining good idle and drivability!

here are some links to my diagnostics under WOT

thanks for posting those two thread links but I have used the search option before posting this thread and read those. I was hoping for more input on the subject and recent results since those posts and what people have experienced since then!

Not sure. 0.020 is a pretty tight gap I believe they came at like 0.030+ but I don't recall to be honest.

The longer spark the better. Dont gap unless needed.

+1

Running the same plugs and didnt touch the gap. The way they are packaged, it is IMPOSSIBLE for the gap to differ from production line. Not necessary to even check the gap.

Havent missed a beat in about 20k miles.

Playing with the gap leaves you open to all sorts of potential issues (noted above). Sooo... why would you?

I am highly doubting a performance increase from a tighter spec spark plug gap. Actually sounds funny

I am running a 0.018 gap on mine and everything has been perfect thus far, have you tried sending your logs in to PTF and seeing what they say?

yes I have. the problem is solved! I got the ER chargepipe put in and got the NGK plugs installed at .024 the car pulls HARD now thanks for all the input.

I sent my logs to PTF and they recommend to gap plugs at .018 or .020. and if that dosnt solve stutter they would turn the boost down on a custom tune. a huge difference is because i have a 6 speed manual transmission.

CATLESS DOWNPIPE NEXT BOYS!
