Ebay is full of skirts/front splitters etc for f30. I cannot say anything about the quality of these items though. I am sure i have seen some decent comments on here from other members. Again, all boils down to the questions if you want genuine bmw parts on not.

Thank you all for your concern and advice.

After seeing what you guys have to say, I'll give my insurance a call and see what they say about it. Just worried even talking to them about it will make then put the price up even if I don't go through with it.

On another note, I had a call from the bus company, they said that although they can send me the video or send it to the police that if I can get the police to come in and request it from them, then they will be able to hand it over, and that she will get the footage from the times I mentioned saved and put by in case they do request it. You never know what might come from it, and although I'll probably never get my bits back, at least I might be able to help stop them from doing it again. Their luck has to run out some time.

See my previous post - this is like saying to someone who's just had their car stereo nicked "don't worry mate, I can pick you one up down the pub for £20".

You'd likely be buying your own bl00dy skirts back!!

Terrible situation to find yourself in, and understand the reluctance to use your insurance, but you might be surprised how little difference a claim can make, or even if it does, the impact over a year or two is much less than getting your car square.

I hope you get a swift resolution to your issue asap.

I wasn't referring to buying back used, potentially stolen parts.
I was talking about non-oem, new parts.

Have you considered scrap yards? Must be some written off F30s with front/rear end damage but mirrors intact.

TBH, the fact that you have reported it to the police has probably put another crime stat on the area and already given the insurance company an excuse to bump premiums.

The honest guy gets stuffed again.

This makes my bloood boil!
You can’t have anything nice without some scrote thinking they can just help themselves.
I think you could be right, informing your insurance, even if you don’t go ahead, gets logged on the system, not sure if you don’t make a claim that it will increase your premium though.
On the spin, seeing thouroughly nice people make offers like UKF30, restores a little faith back in human kind.

Just an update on the insurance side. Gave them a call (Adrian Flux) Guy was really helpful and honest.

He said if I claimed on insurance It would take 3 to 4 years off my no claims (currently have 10 years, will have 11 years if i renew without claim in march) it will increase my renewal by 30 to 40 %. I paid around £950 last year (I have some speeding points from the first year of owning the car). So he said if he added that to last years renewal that would be about £1300-£1400 renewal, but with insurance going up in general, he cant say for sure that's what it would be. I added those details to compare the market just to have a rough idea and the cheapest quote was £2,200 (right choice insurance), and the next £4,500. he said if it was him, he'd ask a local body shop and see what price they came back with compared to BMW.

If my renewals came out at those prices, I think I may as well just try and pay for the damage now, because next years renewal is also going to hurt me, so in the long run i'll be worse off?

Maybe I need to ask BMW if I can just trade in for a new car?

I really don't know what to do

That is shit mate. I can't believe someone has done that during a prime traffic time., just shows how much they couldn't care if they got caught.

There are a lot mirrors on eBay, not sure about the source or if they are the correct part, but a few examples:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-3-SER...cAAOSwOA1aGVSD

that's a difficult call,

Whilst I don't generally like the use of Credit cards per say if I were you in your sittuation a 0% card solution may ease the grief and I don't doubt for a minute you should be able to get an independent to resolve much cheaper.

I struggle to follow this. Even though you have 10/11 years NCB, many insurers only recognise up to 9.

If you look at admiral's NCD scale for example, a full NCD of 9 years give you a 40% discount. A single claim with them removes 2 years discount. In this case you would be at 7 years NCD which in Admiral's cars equates to 33% discount.

How does Adrian Flux reduce NCD by 3-4 years and add 30-40%?

I guess there is some peace of mind with protected NCB after all.

Reading this sort of thing really p***es me off

The fact that your hard working person can't have nice possessions without the fear of somebody trying to steal or wreck it is just wrong.

I live not far from Walsgrave and have parked in the Cinema car park before (prior to owning the BMW) and remember seeing some scrotes flying around the car park on quad bikes as we were walking into the cinema.

Think I'll be giving this one a miss from now on - thanks for the heads up.

If you do decide to talk to BMW, assuming you are from the Coventry area, I would recommend speaking with Harvey.

You would keep your 7 years NCD, but you still have to declare that you have had a claim, pushing the premium up.

I agree with this.

Try an admiral and Aviva quote before and after claim, theft from vehicle. The fact that it's 3-4 years feels high too. 10 years NCD down to 7 years with a no fault claim really shouldn't add more than 10%. My wife with admiral had a fault claim, NCD went from 2yrs to 0yrs and her insurance went up by £40, about 8%. Scare mongering by your insurer imo.

Yup, it's 33% off some random number they generate..
Insurance companies are a step up from the criminals, and in some cases it's not such big step. Another reason to get a claim in IMHO.

One thing - if you do claim will it be done by BMW or a third party? That would change my decision to claim or not...

Totally agree.

No fault claim...
That will be a loss of 2 years NCD +20%, until you recover the NCD = 2 year hit.
Oh, and you must now declare the claim so that will be +10% for the next 5 years.
And you live in a high crime area +50% for life.

I was going to suggest the same. Put it on a credit card and then immediately transfer the balance to a 0% offer and keep juggling the balance around.
