2BB300 Particle sensor check engine

I got a check engine light last week and after scanning the code it was 2BB300. After resetting the light last week, it came back this week and it's the same code.

Searching for this code online seems to be a faulty diesel particulate sensor. My car is a 2014 328d and out of warranty. Looking to see if anyone has any troubleshooting tips to fix this issue? I can't seem to find any DIY or fixes or ways to troubleshoot this error. The car runs fine, and I've monitored the DPF for regeneration and it seems to be regenerating. It's showing 27g Ash mass, 124km since last regeneration, 27g soot mass. I'm driving at least a 50km trip each way at least twice a week. Initially thinking maybe I'm not driving enough long distance trips.

If it's just replacing a sensor, I might take a shot at it if it's not too difficult. Anyone every replaced something like this? TIA.

0x2BB300 Particle sensor, diagnostics feedback: Measuring electrode, self-diagnosis failure

For North America, or at least BMW USA, there was a warranty extension on the particulate sensor. Repairs were covered fully.

Check with www.bmw-rp.com

If not, I have a spare good one if needed. It's not a difficult repair, but if you drove on salted roads, I would soak it in PB Blaster and use very good tools to undo the sensor nut off the exhaust. Do not round out the nut.

I had sent you replies to PM, but it's worthwhile mentioning that there is a firmware update to the engine ECU that may fix the error reporting. I would update first before replacement.

Seeing how it's a 2014, it's unlikely it has the later firmware.

Abel.. Thanks for the update on the car. Appreciate your time helping me update the car.

I called a friend who works at one of the local dealers here in Toronto to get an idea on how much this particulate sensor costs here. Surprisingly, after punching in my VIN he tells me that this part is under warranty extension here in Canada. He says it's 120 month 10 year goes until 31-MAY-2024 or in my case 193000km. So I scheduled an appointment tomorrow and hopefully they'll just swap it out for me. I was surprised the BMW US warranty extension applies to Canada, as I was reading on one of the forums that they didn't cover this sensor here.

I also found out that the High Pressure Fuel Pump, NOX sensors are also the same. The EGR cooler shows unlimited kms and 10 year warranty in case anyone was wondering about these warranty extensions in Canada.

Awesome news! I'll hold off on finding my spare sensor for now. Let me know.

Hey I know this is an old post. I just started having the same engine code pop up intermittently. Where is a good place to purchase this sensor and are there any diagrams or videos as to where it’s located on the vehicle. I’m coming up empty handed in my searches. Thanks. 2015 328xd touring.

Number 13 here.

Careful as many resellers of used parts (ebay for example) will label everything as a NOx sensor.
Black plastic housing = Particulate Matter sensor,
Silver metal housing = NOx sensor

Turns out part and replacement are under warranty. Unfortunately the diagnosis fee is not covered for some weird reason. In Canada.

Great finding! I'll call my dealer to make an appointment asap. Do you have any documentation/link to support the warranty coverage in Canada? My dealer won't confirm anything unless they charge $180+tax for a scan, which I already have.
