Someone added a badge to my car

So I joined the BMW family about a week ago. 2020 440i Xdrive.

Took the car to get tinted today. When my brother came home this evening he asked me about the "7" on my car. I went to see what he was talking about, and sure enough there is now a 7 in front of my model badge.

I don't exactly check the badge every day so I don't know for sure when it occurred. I only know that it was not there on the day I picked up the car a week ago.

I can't find anything online about this being a "thing" to stick badges on people's cars (and it even looks like the 7 series 7 which makes it even more bizarre), but has anyone heard of this happening before? Any tips for removing it without damaging the paint?

Can I just pop it off with my hands without damaging the paint? It feels glued on.

Got it off with some dental floss pretty easily.

Still odd in the first place though.

Next thing you know, people are going to stick M badges on other people's cars!

Just add an ///M badge before the 7 and you’ll be fine.

On a serious note, somebody is messing with you. Co-worker maybe? Congrats on the car.

You need a little bit of heat and floss. Don't use anything to pry it off or you risk damaging your paint.

Whoever did this, if it was supposed to be some type of prank, is an a-hole. Especially on a brand new car.

That is vandalism. Probably some teenage pranksters who thought it was funny defacing someone's bimmer. You should file a police report as there may have been a security cam nearby that captured the incident. I had someone leave a vaguely threatening note on my car and didn't think much of it. Maybe they were pissed because I passed them when they were going to slow. Turns out that's a felony and you can serve jail time for doing that. I'm positive they were captured on a security cam as it was in a big store parking lot. Could have turned the note in with the police report and he very well may have gotten caught, but whatever no real harm done.

Like other have said, dental floss or fishing line run down behind the number will remove it.

Somewhere there is a pissed off 7 series owner because his car is missing a digit.

This sounds like a great opportunity to de-badge the car completely!

File a police report!?

I'm peeling that bitch off and moving on with my day. Can't let things bother you that much, especially something as inconsequential as this.

OP, a hair dryer and some fishing line will get the job done in about 30 seconds.
