F30/34 Battery replacement - brand to go with?

Hi All,

Just anticipating replacing my stock BMW battery (now 7.5 years old)- 90ah AGM, in a 320i manual petrol F34.

I never use stop start (coded off). Journeys are typrically short ones 5-7 miles a day.

Does anyone have any horror stories or other recommendations on makes, I've seen these:

Exide 019/017 EK950 AGM 95Ah 850A

V

Bosch S5A13 Car Battery 12V AGM Start Stop

Huge price differences between battery prices but these are around £120 to £150

Thanks
Smithie

They’re both decent makes as are Yuasa as well. My preference would be the Bosch.

Having had Bosch batteries fail in the past, I now go for the brand with the longest warranty - invariably this ends up being Halfords. They have an at home fitting service too which hats been great.

Thks Pentland, Misschief

I've always wondered about the warranty, when buying off the internet I can see it being pretty impossible to get it honoured. I mean to get it tested and then probably having to pay to ship it back and waiting on the retailer.

I may just punt for the Exide and see what happens, it has a 3 year warranty..

You also won’t find many carriers who will take a faulty battery.

Halfords own brand stuff is usually pretty good. If their batteries last as well as their tools, you won’t go far wrong.

Tanya batteries are a decent place having just bought a Varta from them. Good price and great service. https://www.tayna.co.uk/

Varta are a good brand too. Can't go wrong there.

Once when I had the aux belt fail on my e91 the battery basically ran the car for a whole day!
