You can always find out by looking in the Info_Map.imp file.

The region code is 2 bytes at offset 8, and the sequence number is the 2 bytes after that.

You have to b64dec (decode from MIME) the .fsc to binary first. Then feed the binary version to the fsc generator.

The generator only works on the binary version of the FSC.

Binary FSC's are always 319 bytes long.

Right, I pulled my FSC with e-sys, base64 encoded it using http://www.motobit.com/util/base64-decoder-encoder.asp

Copy paste into a new file on a SINGLE LINE and save as FXXXXXX_0001B001.fsc for CIC or FXXXXXX_000DE001.fsc for NBT where FXXXXXX is your VIN.

Then downloaded BMW_CIC_NBT_FSC_Generator.rar from

Followed those instructions:
Generating FSC code for CIC systems, copy fsc.exe in the "CIC_FSC" to "tools"

It didnt work the first time, I didnt put the correct VIN in the file name, this seems important since I changed it to the correct VIN, tried it again and my NAV accepted the code without problems.

1- Tu dois récupérer la cartographie en premier lieu et la copier sur une clé USB (32 Go minimum).
Pour la dernière carto Europe "Europe_Next_2014-2" pour le GPS PRO (NBT) tu auras donc sur ta clé USB un répertoire du genre "NAVD_000014B9_255_001_048"

Pour te procurer la carto, demande à shawnsheridan qui te filera un lien de téléchargement

2- Tu insères la clé dans ton port USB et tu suis les instructions

3- il va te demander le fameux cade FSC que tu récupères au moyen de 2 logiciels:
a- "SWID_reader" (il y a 2 versions en fonction de ton type de GPS => SWID_1B_reader pour un ancien GPS "CIC" et SWID_DE_reader pour un GPS dernière génération "NBT") te donnera le fichier en ".fsc". Ce logiciel ne fonctionne que connecté à ta voiture au moyen d'un cable ...

J'avais déjà trouvé la carte.... mais apparemment pas la dernière car premium 2014-1.

La version du GPS dépend de la voiture ou de l'année ? dans mon cas un X1 luxe de 2010.

Et pour ce fameux cable, il se trouve facilement ? car après une rapide recherche sur un célèbre site d'enchère je trouve que des cables coutant plusieurs fois le cout d'une mise à jour.

Merci encore (en espérant que je ne pollu pas le forum avec du français).

It is not an issue. The FSC Code you generate is identical to that which BMW would provide for you.

Finally got it working

Firstly I extracted my DE file using ESys, using Aritaurus post:

Click Identify

I've tried this method for both CIC and NBT and it works.

Then I followed these steps using the BMW_CIC_NBT_FSC_Generator, you will need the NBT.exe in your tools directory (google for the file):

1. Save the FSC file and name the file to XYYYYYY.FSC [XYYYYYY are the last 7 characters of your VIN]
2. Put the FSC-file into same directory as your Base64.exe (in tools directory)
3. Open a command prompt (DOS Screen) and go to this directory (tools directory)
4. Type "Base64 XYYYYYY.FSC XYYYYYY_000DE001.FSC" and press enter
5. Open BMW-FSC-NBT-Generator.exe
6. Click "Browse" and select the FSC file you generated in step 1
7. Choose your map product from the list (For me it was "Road Map EUROPE NEXT 2014-2")
8. Click "Generate"

I have successfully updated to the latest Europe maps for X3 (2011 with CIC) and F30 (2014 with NBT) using the methods described (e-sys and tools from BMW_CIC_NBT_FSC_Generator.rar) . Many thanks to this great forum.

Now I am trying the same procedure with my friends i3. The procedure seems to works just fine but the code generated is not accepted. Mind you it is the same map that I could successfully load on my own F30.

I would appreciate if anyone can confirm that this method also works on i3. Or do they have their own maps maybe with charging points included (just a wild guess).
